  • Rached the breaking point.

I'm not sure if anyone here remembers me from 2005 but i was the one in high school looking to slim down in time for prom. I started at 380 lbs. in January 2005, stopping in September 2005 at 298. From that point on, I have gained, and lost, gained, and lost. I've been around 330 lbs. for the last six months or so. I could have sworn many times I was ready to do this, it was going to happen for sure this time. But after Saturday night, while i was out with my friends, I really reached the breaking point. It's almost as if you know, something inside really screams out at you and all of a sudden you just... do it. I'm so focused and determined to do this and I know now that I have the control over my life by whatever I choose to put in my mouth. I have the control to change my life and make it better, live how i want to live, more healthy and less focus on being overweight. I've been overweight since I was about five years old, so this is all I've known, being a "fat kid". I'm really really excited that I've matured enough to make this decision and know now that when you are content with everything else in your life but want to change things that will affect your future and current state. Today I even woke up early to go to the gym and pushed myself to walk 1.5 miles on the eliptical. I would appreciate any advice and feedback anybody has to offer. I'd like to lose about 140 lbs. I can't wait until the day comes when I go out with my friends and am the guy who all the girls will WANT to be with. I can't wait until shopping for clothes isn't a hastle. I can't wait to not be looked at as a "fat kid". Soon Enough!

    Hi,

First of all congrats on your initial success in 2005, that is amazing and you should be proud. So now you just have to as you said be focused and find your motivation to carry you through the tough spots and avoid making excuses and you will soo do the same as you did the first time and then some! Just take it slow and steady step by step and you will find yourself at goal!

Just send a message to the board when you feel yourself needing the support etc. Its all about the little things and constant, neverending improvement.

      Good for you goal65!

That's exactly how I felt. I'm tired of going to Casual Male and not being able to dress for my age. I'm tired of struggling with airplane seats and restaurant booths. I want to lose the worry over those things and lose the weight. Atkins will help the both of us do it since our minds have been made up. Here's to your success!

I've been fat all my life... I do remember being 222 back in the mid 90's and thinking how SKINNY I was....fat is relative I guess. As for being the fat kid...I know the feeling too well. I don't know that I can help much, but if you ever need a friendly ear, I'm here...and I can also tell you to "STEP AWAY FROM THE BAD CARBS"....

it's definitely something that requires effort but there's something that came over me. I cringe at any foods I know are not healthy. This time it is going to happen because I'm a happy outgoing nineteen year old. I would love to be able to enjoy the rest of my youth and look back on these years I spent uncomfortable waiting for this to happen as a different time and be able to start over, have the attention from those who have pushed me and those who don't know who I am. Thanks guys! Keep em' comin'.

Today the scale said 309 but I think my scale might be off. If it isn't off.. that's 21 lbs. in 4 days? P.S. today was my second day at the gym.. I warmed up on the tredmill for .25 mile, then elpitcal for 1.5 miles, then the bike for 1.25 miles.. so 3 miles today!! I'm already starting to feel/see results! Awesome!!!

Whoa! 21 pnds? That's awesome, even if some of it is water, that's still a substantial weight loss already. I can't wait to get my gym membership.

yeah, i mean my friends always told me how much of a great energy rush you get after pushing yourself in the gym. The feeling after only two days is especially addicting and i feel so healthy! I just ate a grilled chicken plate with spinach and mottzarella and feel guilty because it's the most i've eaten in a few days lol I'm sure it'll all be okay.. Gym again tomorrow morning and off to get a new scale which is more accurate.

I've been somewhat slipping. Kinda been down on myself. Today i started up again, not that i ever truly fell off, I just was more lenient, too lenient. So, back today, strict, ready to do this. I went to a lap-band seminar last night but after that, I realize it might not be the best thing for me if I can get the weight off by myself. So.. here's to new mini goal.. 290 by 2/29!!
