    Hi Michelle,

    Day five for me too...I refuse to weigh myself until the fourteen are up. I'm also concerned about the veggies and have been avoiding them. {{awaiting jeers}}

    I almost bought salad stuff today but chickened out...Progress, not perfection. I'm losing, for sure, as my 44's are too loose and the 42's fit again. But I know I need to give up the fear and embrace the process, i.e. VEGGIES!!!

    Maybe tomorrow I'll take the plunge.

    Good luck, and stay off the scale. It's evil.

      Are you using fitday? Your fat % looks pretty low to me. Remember, in induction you're shooting for 65% fats, 30% protein, 5% carb breakdown.

        I'm not using Fitday. I'm using SparkPeople though.

        This is what it said about today's meal.

        Calories -- 1507

        Carbs -- 13

        Fat -- 127

        Protein -- 80

          Regardless of what the scale says, you are not eating enough and sooner or later, you will stop losing entirely as your body will go into starvation mode.

          Eat more. You should be eating at least 1400 to 1700 calories per day, and 65% of that should be fat. You definately need those veggies, as well. This is not a choice or an option. It's the only way this woe works.

            Well my calories are falling right in the right area but how do I get my fat up to 65%. I am eating more veggies. Yesterday's vegetables were a side salad with just lettuce (2 cups) and one cup of cooked Kale.

            I don't know how to get more fat in my diet. I feel good and I feel like I'm doing the right thing but I guess I still need some tweaking.

              Some easy ways to get more fat:

              Use an oil based dressing on your salads
              Fry food
              Add a pat of butter to your veg
              Eat fatty fish - salmon is good
              Avocado, Olives - good for both fat and fibre
              Cook chicken with skin on and eat the crispy skin
              Don't trim the fat off meat, buy meat with the fat on

              It doesn't take much of any of these to get your fat up to a good %, but it does take quite a change in mindset if you are more accustomed to eating a low fat diet. I know it took me a while to stop automatically avoiding fat.

                I reread the rules of Induction last night and somehow had missed that I could have Avacado. It is one of my favorite things so I will be picking some of that up today!

                I will try your other tricks. I don't buy my meat I get it from the farm since my fiance' is from a farm so I'm lucky in that respect.

                I have figured out on this diet that I LOVE butter. I don't know why someone would use margarine. It has no taste and butter makes everything taste so rich!
