  • Another - HELP!?!? - Thread

So Monday is supposed to be my 2 weeks on Induction. But I have noticed a couple things that have happened during the past couple of days.

    1. I was always thirsty! I would drink a gallon or more of water a day. But during the past 48 hours, my thirst has gone down a bit.

    2. My appetite seems to be creeping back. It seemed I could go the 6 hours before I had to eat again, but lately it seems I am starving after 3 hours.

    3. The ketosis strips says it was able to find trace amounts. Frustrating.

Only thing I could thing of was maybe a little amount of artifical sweetner I have had. Any help?

Im still thirsty, drink lots and lots of water. Maybe every other day or so, me appetite returns as well. As far as the strips I dont do it so dont sweat it. So long as you are losing pounds and/or inches, that's what counts. Sounds like your results are normal. Stick it out and remain focused. God Bless, Joe

A couple of thoughts. I thought the menu was pretty good
          But:
Looks like there could be a lot of salt in your menu. A lot of the items you list are potentially quit salty. And an item like hotdog or sausage may have other fillers or even sugars in them.

You are eating a lot of cheese - there is a limit on induction (3-4 oz) if I remember correctly

You are only eating lettuce for your veggie. It is time to start adding some of the other veggies on the list to help you out.

          Are you taking your vitamins?

I dont think I am doing excess cheese just yet. When I mentioned shredded cheese for adding to an omelet or salad, its just about 1 tblspoon, if that. I really havent been weighing the cheese either, so it still could be too much.

As for veggies, I dont like to many of them. Lettuce seems to be the most available at my house and work. Work doesnt supply to many vegetables on the safe list.

And as for vitamins, I was taking a "one a day multivitamin" but I had some concerns that maybe the vitamin was helping make me a bit constipated.

Re: Another - HELP!?!? - Thread

I would think it is more the lack of veggies giving you constipation 2 cups of lettuce will have only a couple of grams of carbs including fibre in them, maybe even less depending on the variety you are having.

Are you constipated as in feeling you need to go but finding it is too compacted/painful to come out, or just as in not needing to go?

If you are not eating much fibre then there will be much less to be evacuated, so you do not need to go so often as before Atkins
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

It was more just not needing to go.

I thought I was getting enough veggies. Am I not then?

Re: Another - HELP!?!? - Thread

Posibly not - Dr Atkins did say we should be getting 'most' of our carbs from veggies, so if you are choosing only lettuce which I think would have about 1 carb max per cup then you would only be 'allowed' less than 3 carbs from anything else you eat - eggs, cheese, cream etc.

So by limiting yourself to the lower-carb veg you are depriving yourself of other foods too.

We have a semi-annual challenge here where people try to get at least 12 net carbs from their 3 cups of veg, and many of them succeed by carefully choosing different veg from the two lists.
