  • Help- I am getting discouraged!

    Hi,

I have been on induction for 2 weeks + 1 day.
After a few corrections in my diet in the first 3 days i was finally losing slowly and then i had TOM and went back up where i started!
I wanted to move to OWL but after that i thought i 'd better stay on induction another week.

I tried to stay strong and wait.. yesterday i was back down 1.4lbs, today nothing. I do not feel bloated anymore that i am not sure if there is any more water to be lost due to TOM. It does not seem like it.

So much effort for so little results!
The only cheat i had in all this time was 2 glasses of wine on July 4th. Other than that i stayed fully clean.

All the advice you can give me is welcome!
    Thanks,
    A.

Alcohol will delay fat burning. Unfortunately, while your body was busy metabolizing the alcohol, it was busy storing the foods you ate as fat.

Stay on Induction one more week. Then move on. Don't weigh yourself every day because your weight will normally fluctuate, day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute.

Re: Help- I am getting discouraged!

Also, you have a 10 pound weight loss goal. During Induction we can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose. So if you have a 10 pound weight loss goal, you can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound. If you have a 100 pound weight loss goal, you can expect to lose 5-10 pounds.

So it doesn't look like you're off track in terms of weight loss at all. But stay on Induction for a few days to get yourself back on track with the diet, then move to OWL.

agree with the above posts, you have hardly anything to lose, so you're not going to lose as much.

I know. But you cannot imagine how hard it is to lose just a few pounds.
I have never been a big processed carb eater, and mostly had a good diet except for too much aspartame, too many fruits ( really lots of fruits) and as a results lots of cravings which i am trying to get rid of thru Atkins.

So my goal is as much to lose a few pounds as to rebalance my way of heating so it becomes more healthy and free of cravings for sugar.

Thanks for your advice, i will follow it. Stay a few more days with induction ( which i love food wise) and then move onto OWL. See if i manage to get rid of those pounds once for good.

It's always those 10 pounds to goal weight that are always the hardest .
Don't worry you will get there. Like the other posters said, you won't lose that much because you don't have that much to lose. Megs already mentioned it, calculate that 5-10% and you will see that you are doing well!

Be patient. You've done great for the amount of weight you want to lose. That 1.4 pound loss is the equivalent to losing 14 pounds if you had a 100 pound weight loss goal. So, stay on Induction for a few more days and then move to OWL.

Stick with it. I'm also 10 lbs from my goal and it's taking a long time to lose any weight.

How tall are you? For most heights your sw is a normal weight, so if you are trying to be too skinny your body will probably not respond!

I agree with privettewifey..if you are currently at a healthy weight, your body may not be able to shed massive weight in a short time. That is why on the plan the last 10 lb should be achieved on PreMaintenance! The slower you lose the weight, the more likely you are to keep it off! Have some faith, stick with it, and come to the boards for support!!! YOU CAN DO IT...just be thankful you lost the 1.4lbs...I mean, have you seen 1.4 lbs of body fat before? THAT IS A LOT!!! and it is ALL FAT!

...and the scale is NOT the only measure of "loss". Have you measured yourself?

Take a waist measurment at least, then when the scale doesn't move, at least you will have another way to see if you are moving "down" in inches.

Do you use ketosticks? ... if so, are they still in range?

                            How are your clothes fitting.

I know how tough and frustrating it can be to want to see the scale move. I had to really retrain my thinking to look at other "measures". It was very hard at first, but it got easier.

I lost 80 pounds that way. errr...ahhh... then took a holiday from life and gained back 36... but I'm moving back down now!! ... and keeping my eyes on ALL the ways to measure a success.

Hang in there and hang tough!

Thank god I haven't checked my scale I'd be depressed too. the scale can be your worst enemy sometimes. You should just stick to the plan and keep going. Don't worry about the weight coming off so fast it will come off. just have faith and think of it this way...your time, days, minutes, months etc how ever you want to look at it, will go by regardless of how you soend it so why not spend it sticking to the plan in in no time a month would have passed and you'll be slimmer. Better than giving up so quickly and your time going by and you looking back at that same month thinking darn had I just stuck w it I'd be slimmer now. So just keep going and don't let it consume you.
