    Re: First Day!! HELP!!!!

Everyone has given you good advice here, so all I will add is to post a link to the thread here on ADBB with recipes for some useful induction dishes including the revolution roll one which the 'oopsie' recipe is an adaptation of.

BTW I use the rev roll recipe but alter it by using mayonnaise instead of the cream cheese to keep my cheese consumption down. I often have a cheese sandwish using the rolls so the original recipe or the oopsie one (which uses even more cheese) might push me over the 'allowance'.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

You're right, Elizellen - I have gotten such great advice here and I appreciate the links. I have it bookmarked for future reference. I know the recipes will be invaluable to me to keep things spiced up and prevent boredom.

bethany - I have had baby spinach cooked but never in a salad raw but my hubby has so maybe I'll try it too. thank you! I added arugula to mine last night...just a bit as I'd never tried it other than cooked in a pasta dish at the Olive Garden before.

jen1971 - I love onions so thank you for that suggestion as well as all your other tips...great insight.

validrouge - now you're going to have me looking for that orange flavored olive oil...safe for induction?

Y'all are AMAZING! Thank you...I feel great this morning...albeit sore a bit from 50 laps of swimming yesterday! Had 3 fried eggs and 3 pieces of bacon for breakfast and am rarin' to go!

Late on this thread, but make some legal deviled eggs or something for your hungry hubby. He needs more calories than you do, and will need snacks. Or look for some high quality (no sugar) summer sausage or something he can slice and nibble so he doesn't feel starved. Good job on the 50 laps!

Thank you! Yes, he has been eating considerably more sliced turkey and eggs than I have so he's doing alright! His big thing is the coffee...he LOVED his coffee (which was 1/2 sugar almost before Atkins) so drinking it yesterday with just a couple of Splenda packets and the cream was not doing it for him but I told him to drink a SMALLER cup and it would taste better. He tried that today and was alright. He's just used to drinking 3 huge cups in the morning filled with sugar. He'll get used to this...I'm sure of it. He's really motivated.

thanks again! Going to swim now!!

Hi - just a thought re the orange olive oil if you can't find some to buy... I've made flavoured oils in the past - for an orange one I suppose you would add orange zest, (no pith) and leave it for a while to get the flavour. I did one once with grated root ginger and it was yummy in stir fries etc., No oranges allowed on induction - but I would have thought some orange zest in oil might be OK? Somebody shout if it's not! You could either leave it in to strengthen the flavour, or strain it out.

Alternatively I bought some orange flavouring a couple of weeks ago, for a change now and again from using vanilla essence - you could try some of that mixed well with the oil - it would be a bit of trial and error - but may work!

Hope the swim went OK - offline for a bit now to do some stationary cycling in front of the TV!!

That sounds so good...all of it. I'm making the Faux Mashed Potatoes with Cauliflower right now for the first time and I'm going to get my 10 year old SUPER PICKY daughter to try them.

Didn't swim yet...had to help hubby with our broken bathroom sink that he just successfully repaired. It's been impossible! Now, he's on my inlaw's ROOF pouring liquid Draino down their pipe at their insistence (no, he's NOT a plumber...just a nice guy!) in triple digit Texas heat)!

So my swim will now happen when he gets back just to cool off and then my WORKOUT will happen this evening when the temps aren't so bad!

                Re: First Day!! HELP!!!!

Triple digit heat! - I thought it was hot enough over here! (I'm in the UK) Have just sweated my way through 10 more miles on the exercise bike, so I don't blame you for waiting 'til it's cooler. Hope all the plumbing jobs are done now! I haven't tried the faux mash yet - cauliflower has caused me problems with IBS symptoms in the past, so I'm a bit wary of having too much of it. Might make some for my hubby tomorrow and try a little.

                Have a good Sunday.

                  Re: First Day!! HELP!!!!

oh wow!! 10 miles on the exercise bike? that's impressive!! Plumbing jobs are done and we just ate the faux mash...and LOVED them. Making them was a bit more labor intensive than they are supposed to be since we haven't gotten a food processor yet. We're going to though. I say "we loved them"...that means hubby and I...my daughter did NOT like them. But then again, she knows we can't have potatoes so she wasn't fooled. She hates cauliflower and could smell it. Mind overruled her mouth on this round. haha! I think she'll like the mock danish and the oopsie rolls and plan on trying both of those soon.

                  Have a great Sunday too!
