  • Unbelivable BBQ RIBS no carbs No Sugar!

    Hi Everyone! :wave

As a die hard BBQ rib lover I thought I would share this with you guyz

Yesterday I made slow cooked ribs for Sean (my other half) and was thinking to myself rats mine have to be plain and awful. The no carb no sugar ones were so yummy Sean kept stealing mine.

Use about 4-6 pounds of ribs (I like country style coz they're so meaty!)

    Here's what you need:
    • 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive oil
      5-6 big cloves of Garlic
      Juice of half a lemon
      Heaping Tablespoon Minced lemon rind
      3/4 Teaspoon coarse salt Salt
      1/2 Teaspoon cracked Pepper
      1-2 Packets of Splenda (optional)
Big splash of red wine vinegar
Mix all the above in a large bowl and marinate your ribs for an hour. Put ribs in a baking pan and into a pre heated oven at 250 degrees, let them slow cook for about 3-4 hours and baste with extra sauce a few times.

When the meat pulls away from the bone they're done.

    They're absolutely delicious.

      Hey Peter,
Sounds YUMMY. Okay I was going to to start a thread about that carb smart BQ sauce and steak sauce have you ever heard of it and is it okay to use on introduction phase.I been uses it for the four day's I've been on and lost 5pnds.
Remember I'm the one that don't like meat but it has helped alot! ha I will have to try your recipe.

        Hi Lisa, :wave

5 pounds? that is so fabulous! how wonderful for you.

If you're losing weight then I don't see a problem with those sauces at all. Some folks might suggest that all sweetness should be avoided during induction, some folks believe all sweetness should be avoided forever....all opinions have value and worth.

As for me, I know I have to be very careful not to slip up, so I might use Splenda in a sauce but not my tea. My feeling is "If it ain't broke - don't fix it" So if the sauces aren't causing a stall and they're obviously not go ahead and use em! and don't feel bad about it either or else!

Let me know how you and your b/f liked the ribs, mine ate half my plate!

Oh, this sounds delicicious. But can we have lemon zest? I've been using this WOE since August so it may seem like I should already know the answer, but I don't. If you don't know for certain, maybe a moderator will see this post and answer for us.

I am dying for a good BBQ recipe. My brother will enjoy it too.

If a person could avoid those types of products in the first two weeks of Induction, that'd be great :yes
Remember Induction is a time to cleanse your system so you can start fresh with new and better eating habits.

I too, like the Hickory Carb Sense BBQ sauce, and once past the first two weeks I chose to use it once in a while. I put it in a little bowl on the side and dipped my ribs into it so I could really be sure of the portion I was eating.
Also be mindful that it counts towards your sweetener limit for the day.

The avoiding sweeteners during Induction is such an individual decision. Some folks aren't much for sweet things to begin with, but some of us are walking on cracked ice when it comes to anything sweet, even if it is a Splenda item. So you need to use your own judgement. If you find your day revolves around that meal or snack where you are including a sweetener, then it might be time to re-evaluate things.

I like your recipe, Peter, and I'm definitely going to try it. :ThumbsUp

I'm a little confused, I don't know if your reply was limited to the use of CarbOptions BBQ sauce or not.

Is this recipe induction legal, I mean can we use the lemon zest it contains?

OMG you are heaven sent! Thank you! I had been using Carb Options (counting the sucralose intake into my daily carbcount) bbq sauce but your recipe sounds so divine. I am concerned tho, isn't there sugar in red wine vinegar? Someone PLLLEEASSE correct me if I am wrong cus I love red wine vinegar....

Considering it's 1 TBS for the whole recipe, I'm quite sure it's just fine, unless you decide to eat the whole TBS in one mouthful! :yikes We are allowed 2 to 3 TBS of lemon juice a day, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry for the confusion, what I meant was to hold off on the processed bottled Carb Options and look for fresh home-made alternatives. :yes
