This is my 2nd serious go at Atkins, losing 50 pounds the first time, but I don't remember this sensation I'm having today. I feel full and hungry at the same time lol. Ultimately the full feeling wins, because I feel stuffed and can't bring myself to eat anymore at that time but at the same time I still have the feeling of hunger. Is this normal? I don't remember it. My diet today so far has been mostly chicken, two cans of tuna fish, and a salmon. Also a lot of water.

Re: Day 2, Starving
Are you eating any veggies? You've listed chicken, salmon, & tuna. Eating any fat along with the protein?"You always had it. You always had the power."~~ Glinda the Good Witch

Re: Day 2, Starving
I think you need to put some veggies in there!! Other than the health reasons, I think your body needs the variety of different foods to feel satiated. Just my opinion!

Re: Day 2, Starving
What are some veggies that I can eat? I didn't really eat any my last time doing induction, not till I was done with it.

Add some carbs (veggies) for sure, but you need to add the fat as well. The fat will solve your hunger issues I think. Good luck!

Welcome Bluecliq
I just had salmon and green beans for dinner. You are probably eating those veggies right?
What about exercise? A walk will stem the hunger.

Re: Day 2, Starving
There is a whole list under foods for induction around here but I am making the pizza out of cauliflower right now and I will let you know how it turns out. I have been eating the following veggies mostly:
eggplant
lettuce
spinach (leaf type not cooked)
green peppers and onions
broccoli
cauliflower
zucchini
If you need any recipes for those, pm me and I will give you what I have. I am not into tons of different veggies and technically I do not even like cauliflower but there are SO many ways you can make it and have it not taste like cauliflower, lol!!
Let me know!

Re: Day 2, Starving
You can't do induction without having some veggies. There are a lot that you can have, please check out the stickies for an acceptable foods list. Do you have a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), 2002 version? That's the one that most here go by, and it will guide you through what you can and should be eating.Originally posted by BluECliQ View PostWhat are some veggies that I can eat? Atkins is not NO carb, it's LOW carb. You have to have some carbs. Throw in a salad with one of your meals with a low carb dressing, and have a side of green beans or something else on the list of acceptable foods. I think you'll find that it will also help with any feelings of boredom that you may get by just eating meat. Besides, all protein is not a healthy way to live.
Again... good luck, and read. Oh.... if you still have that feeling.... WATER is your friend! Drink lots of it!

Re: Day 2, Starving
Thanks for all the quick responses, I actually thought my running might be the cause. I run anywhere between 1-3 miles everyday. I'll have to go out tomorrow and buy some friendly carbs to eat.

Re: Day 2, Starving
There is a lot of help available here if you just ask... which you did.
Check out this sticky for a list of what's ok during induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-improved.html

Re: Day 2, Starving
Yes ... A romaine salad with a couple veggies and blue cheese dressing goes well with what you have been eating, either mixed up or separate.
Go to fitday.com to figure your net catbs. Click on the bull's eye on the left and choose fiber to see that ... Subtract from total carbs per item to get net carbs. This also gives you the % of your meal/day that is fat/carb/protien ... Shoot for 65/5/30.
Cool?
Glenn

PS: very good that you are running.Last edited by gman; August 3, 2008, 07:36 AM.240/231/198

Re: Day 2, Starving
I know exactly how you feel!!! All day yesterday I was saying "my stomach feels full but my mouth is hungry!" haha
I wasn't technically hungry at all but I was really craving to be able to taste chocolate or something else 'bad'. I think this was partly because it was Saturday and I was out and about so could see all the carb-rich foods in the shops which reminded me how good they are! As soon as I got home and had a 'good' snack I felt ok.
I guess we just have to get through this bit - hang in there you're doing great!!

Re: Day 2, Starving
There is a bit of a difference between cravings and hunger. Cravings we have to try to get rid off. They are irrational things that cause us to overeat the wrong stuff and we put on the pounds. I always used water in induction to deal with cravings - seemed to keep them at bay.
If you are really hungry - the best thing to do is to eat more. A few more eggs with mayo - for instance works well. The hunger is worst the first few days, once you hit the ketosis it will die down a bit.
But I also agree on the veggies. Atkins is not a 0 carb diet. It is a low carb diet.
