Alfalfa sprouts are those little fine feathery sprouts that you see in little containers in the produce section. They taste a lot like pea pods and sometimes they can even have a peppery taste.
Tech Specs: 1 cup has 1 carb(4 carbs - 3 fiber = 1 net carb)
Nutritionally, they are a great source of beta carotene, Vitamins C, E, K, and are a good source of potassium as well, for all you folks out there with leg cramps!
(My info was found here http://www.elook.org/nutrition/vegetables/1849.html)
For those of you who are not keen on veggies, this is something you could easily mix in with tuna or chicken salad and hardly know it was there. :yes
I like to take a piece of deli roast beef, smear it with some cream cheese, put a layer of sprouts on it and roll it up...very tasty.
...and how do you like your alfalfa sprouts?!
