Re: At a loss... very upset

Congrats on the weight loss to date! I think you're doing awesome. Do you know how many folks would KILL to be able to lose 6 pound sin one week?? Heck...6 pounds in one MONTH. Okay, I'm not making light of how you feel my friend. I just think it's great to put things into perspective. A loss is a loss, no matter how small, you will always be smaller than you were before it so get happy about that. Your body is in control here, so no matter how hard you try to follow Atkins to the letter, you have to wait for your body to respond and I believe that it WILL respond in the way you want it as long as you keep the focus you have now. What are you doing for exercise? Cardio needs to become your best friend and try to up the ante a bit...can I see 4-5 days of exercise? I'm sorry...it's the PT in me but I can tell you first hand that the extra days should help get the scale moving. One last thing, are you taking progress pics? Get on that if you're not. Pictures tell the story when the scale and tape measure do not.
    Good luck to you!

Re: At a loss... very upset

I posted almost the exact same thing a few days ago. Had a great first week 'n a half of induction, then not only did the weight loss seem to stop but it looked like a gained a pound or two! I posted my average menu and I got suggestions to cut out the little bit of ketchup I was using on my burger patties, and cut down on the cheese (you seem to be eating about as much as I was, so maybe try cutting out one or two of the servings of cheese?). But like you, I FEEL like I'm getting smaller, so I'm trying not to put too much into what the scale says. I'm sure those numbers will start going down soon enough. Have you tried trying on a pair of pants that maybe haven't fit well in awhile? That's a good way to gauge how much slimmer you're getting!

I noticed on your menu that you have shredded cheese on there. There is corn starch in shredded cheese unless you made your own. Also, pepperoni says on the label that it has zero sugar but did you read the ingrediants? Not to mention that they are really high in fat.

I know ... I read all of this my first week too & I was bumbed. I dont know maybe it is not that and if you persevere you will be fine. Keep on keeping on... and we will find out what happens in a few days. The best of luck to you.

Re: At a loss... very upset

Hi there! I was looking at your menu- do you think maybe it could be the amount of cheese? I don't know, but I just noticed that you include cheese in every meal, and even as a snack. I too love cheese very much- but I try to eat it only once a day because I'm afraid I'll eat too much of it.

Also, forget the scale- How do your clothes fit? Do you feel lighter, slimmer, and better altogether. I know how you're feeling right now- I also gained on my 5th day of induction and I was sad too, but I love the way my clothes are fitting me better, and when I bend over to tie my shoes or get something off the floor, I don't feel that bothersome tummy anymore. That in itself is enough to keep my going. Have you tried using Ketostix to give you the phsychological assurance?

Just some thoughts- great job, and keep going- you will do it!!!

I haven't been on the site in a few days...but wanted to thank all of you for your great suggestions and encouragement. I do eat cheese a lot. The shredded cheese I put in my eggs is just shredded from a block of cheddar. I am going to eliminate some cheese this week and see what happens. I am also going to up my exercise a little as well... my goal is at least 4 times/wk. I took measurements today...down a bit, not alot. I feel a little bloated... but that may be due to mother nature I am down 8.5lbs now... and I feel good about it. Would love to be 10 down by next week! AGain, thanks so much for your input everyone~!

                    LilysMommy,
Good for you that you are already down 8.5 lbs and inches moving down too! That is great! It's hard to cut the cheese (LOL) out of the diet so much when it really adds great flavor to foods. I'm sure you can do it though.
Great job so far! Keep up the good work!

                    * I have a daughter named Lily too.
