Hi everyone! :wave
Something interesting happened to me this morning, well interesting to me and I hope to you too.
I headed out to do some errands this morning, our shopping mall is gargantuan. It was early, not crowded and I picked up the things I needed which included hand and wrist weights so just carrying the packages and bags was a cardio workout in itself.
There are these big glass elevators that take you to the level where your car is parked and I know no one can escape this but when I walked out into the bitter cold lot of parked cars I couldn't for the life of me remember where the heck I parked!
20 minutes later I was reduced to a shivering, sweating, tooth gnashing monster..the more I walked schlepping (Jewish for carrying we like to make everything sound difficult!) my arms were killing me, heart racing - border line frantic..and not very attractive I assure you!
Well, I found the car (or I wouldn't be writing this) gave a huge sigh of relief...and headed home. Along the way as I morphed back from tooth gnashing monster to human..I began to think how much this brief, really very insignificant experience was important.
It occurred to me, that being lost in a parking lot was a lot like so many of our own lives. We didn't intend to get lost. Carrying those heavy packages, like carrying all this extra weight wasn't easy, especially feeling I would never find my car and be able to put these things down and head home (Like feeling we can never lose the weight and get healthy it's just not true) Because there I was, in my car, in control and going home.
So I think what I'm trying to say metaphorically is that we all get lost - and it's a horrible until we find a way out. That's what Atkins is, it's a way out. It's our journey from lost to found.
And perhaps equally important it's even more than that - it's finally our way home.
Peter
