I love bacon too. I could eat it everyday. When people call Atkins the steak and bacon diet I just want to say "yep. my two favorite foods"

I'm with you. I eat it every morning for breakfast with my eggs. It is almost as if it is sweet sometimes, it curves my sweet tooth!

So funny how I use to HATE eggs and bacon lol

            Hey Ty,

The bible actually says we’re not to eat any form of pork, so bacon (made from pork) would not be the meat of God. Pork is not considered suitable for human consumption. Not that I’m trying to preach, however, many people don’t realize the serious underlying health issues that can be contributed to eating pork. Throughout the years many doctors have supported that people abstain from eating pork in any form due to the negative effects if can have on a person’s health.

Pure turkey and chicken bacon are available as healthy substitutes.

Just thought I would pass this along.

            All the best,
            Sarina

It also says to stone the adulterers and obstinate child. I let those pass too; offering god's gift of bacon to any and all regardless of religious belief.

I prefer to put my faith in Homer and his infinite wisdom:

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
              Lisa: No.
              Homer: Ham?
              Lisa: No.
              Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.
              Pax Dominus.

That's often part of the the low-fat, high-carb doctrine that many of those same doctors promote and which Dr. Atkins criticized. Do you have any citations for actual clinical research that demonstrates negative effects?

Ty, I had some of that wonderful applewood smoked bacon while I was in KY last week and it was the best I've ever eaten. I will have to look for it here although I've never seen it before.

To bacon or not to bacon, that is the question, huh? I think I'll go have mine now.

'Tis a shame really. There's nothing better than eating bacon while flogging your obstinate child and stoning your cheating wife. I think there might be a country song about that combo...

In the bible Jesus says it's not what you put into your mouth that makes you unclean but what comes out.

Bring on the bacon! I like thick crispy slices. But I don't like it enough to eat it every day. I can't wait to use it to flavor beans when I get to that rung.

The Israelites under the Mosaic Law were not allowed to eat the fat of ANY animal. The fat was to be made to smoke on the altar.

If you are going to be bound by the pork restriction, you gotta go 'whole hog' with the rest of the Laws.

                            Bad pun, I know.

You've got me WAY geared up for bacon. Seriously - I think I'm off to cook.
