Re: Bacon may be God's meat...

If you read the tenth chapter of Acts in the NEW TESTAMENT (as I am not a Jew, I follow the NEW TESTAMENT) you will find that GOD has cleansed all kinds of animals (verses 12-15) in Peter's vision.

Also, in 1 Timothy 4:4 "For everything created by GOD is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude;"

I think gratitude is a very key word there. We should all be thankful for what we have. And is asking GOD's blessing and being truly thankful, HE will find no harm in what you eat. Now how you eat it is another thing altogether, ie gluttony.

At this time of year we pause to show our gratitude/thankfulness for all we have. I think it is a good lesson that we all reflect on what we are most thankful for and be TRULY THANKFUL! I know I am.

      Happy Thanksgiving all!

It is a shame the people make fun of the Bible when they don't truly understand or even try to understand it. I don't believe that it is funny what happened to some of those people during that time in history. BUT, I'll be you there was a lot less cheating on one another, a lot less mouthy, little butt hole kids out there. 'Cause they knew what was coming there way should they do things against GOD.
We have become a world of relaxed religious folks and some day we will all see that those very laws were not put into place so that people would be hurt or killed but to keep them from doing bad things and destroying this world. (aids, drugs, STD, murder, child molestation, adultery, gluttony, drunkenness, etc.)
NO I am not a Bible thumper! But I do love my GOD and I don't like to see HIS WORD taken lightly.

I am truly grateful EVERY day for the animals that sacrifice their lives so we can enjoy "tasty" meals. I did the vegetarian thing due to guilt over what I felt was a senseless death of millions to satisfy our carnivorous urges (that would be my Hindu nature), as well as my own guilt around the instructions God had given to the Israelites (that would be my Jewish nature). Vegetarianism didn't agree with me ~ obviously, or I wouldn't be on this forum.

So, I give thanks for all I have and the grand design that allowed for something as blissfully divine as bacon. It doesn't mean my love for God has lessened, it means my gratitude has grown, and I have learned to live with that.

            Bacon-flavored mayonnaise: Baconnaise

I dunno that might be taking it too far although before I started low carbing I did enjoy bacon and mayonnaise sandwiches as a guilty pleasure.

Meli, you are correct that this isn't a religious forum. But if a person chooses to accuse us of breaking God's law, we are within our rights to defend ourselves. God had a particular set of laws for the Israelites. They are not binding on us today.
