Re: Need something sweet! Oh yeah...and I'm down 8lbs!

Try a low carb cheesecake.. induction friendly and only 2 carbs per slice with out crust.

    Low Carb Cheesecake

    Ingredients

    cake:
    • 2 packs Philedelphia Original cream cheese (8 oz. each), softened
    • 1/4 cup sour cream
    • 1/2 cup equivalent sugar substitute (recommended: Splenda or even better, concentrated liquid splenda)
    • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

    • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract, should be a "no sugar" extract
    • 1 teaspoons fresh lime juice (or lemon juice, if you prefer)
    • 1 whole eggs
    • 2 egg yolks

    Equipment: 1 (8-inch) cake pan

    Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray the cake pan bottom and sides witha flavorless or butter-flavored nonstick cooking spray. Cut a piece of baker's parchment paper the size of the bottom and place inside. Spray this with spray as well. Set aside.

In a shallow roasting pan (that's big enough to fit the cake pan inside), pour about 1-inch of water and place it on the center rack of the oven to preheat.

Completely soften cream cheese at room temperature or microwave for a minute or two. In a large mixing bowl, stir or mix with hands: softened cream cheese, sour cream and sugar substitute until well mixed. You don't want to use a mixer in this recipe or the incorporated air will prevent the texture from being dense and rich.

In a separate bowl, mix heavy cream, vanilla, lime juice, eggs, and egg yolks until well blended.

Pour the egg mixture into the cream cheese mixture. Stir or mix with hands until well blended.

Pour batter into the prepared cake pan. Place pan into the heated water bath in the oven. Bake for 15 minutes at 400, then lower the oven temperature to 275 degrees F. Continue baking for 1 1/2 hours, or until top is light golden brown and cake is pulling away from the sides of the pan. Turn off the oven and leave the cake in the oven to cool slowly for 3 more hours. (This will keep the cake nice and tall and prevent the top from cracking.) Remove and refrigerate before serving. Serve chilled.

If I need something sweet I usually take a teaspoon of cream cheese and put a little splenda on it. Quick and Easy Fix!!

I just microwave some cream cheese until it's warm and add a Stevia or Splenda packet to it. Yumm! It's quick and totally gets rid of my craving!

I try not to cave into my wicked sweet tooth. I distract myself and if I am still obsessing after awhile I make myself a little cream cheese concoction.
I take a tablespoon or two of whipped cream cheese, some Stevia, a drop of vanilla, and cinnamon. I stir it all up and savor it. It really kills the sweet tooth. Also, you can add some unsweetened cocoa powder for a chocolate flavor.

I would completely agree with the "starve it out" mentality. You have to consider what the intent of induction is...obviously it's there to help kick start the weight loss, but it's purpose is also to help the body overcome its addiction to sugar. If you are continually feeding into the sweet tooth, it's just a substitute addiction, something like smoking cigarettes to beat an addiction to cocaine or something. Neither one is healthy or valuable.

I would err to the side of just having some grit and sticking it out. As you starve out the sweet tooth, you'll notice that things that tasted flat or something (like salad greens and the like) will have more of a sweet taste to you. That helps.

My two cents is to stick it out. Be strong. Avoid the bars like they had AIDS in them.

One thing that helps me, just FYI, is to head to the gym when I get a sweet craving. Admittedly it's trying to reprogram my brain to associate craving with desire to work out, but it's an idea.

for me ive just been pushing through my sweet cravings.. but what helps me before atkins is drinking some diet soda.. i would take sips of it lol.. honestly with all the flavors of diet soda out there your bound to find something you like that will hit that sweet craving.. imo its better then making something that you might gorge on.

Sorry, I don't know what baking vanilla is. You are allowed to have vanilla extract, as long as you use it sparingly, i.e. as a "spice".

Try to find a vanilla extract without alcohol in it if you can.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
