    Re: Induction Buddies 11/30-12/13

    83~ I just had roast chicken leg and fauxtatoes w. melted cheese on top for dinner. Yuuummmmers! And I have a chicken soup on the stove (that i made from the leftover chicken from Wed.) cooking for sometime over the weekend. Also a big yum.

    Welcome SimH! That's an amazing loss! Keep on it!

    ~~~
    So I'm sure that I went over my carbs by about 30 today. Not cool. But again, I'm not going to use that as an excuse to throw it all in. The weekend is going to be a challenge, but with a little planning, I'm sure that it's possible.
    Just got my copy of the book (DANDR 2002) today. I think I was probably going on the version from '76 when I first tried Atkins in 2000 and a bit has changed.
    I've been snacking on dried laver (that wrapper part of sushi). According to fitday it has .2 carbs per strip and I've had about 4 strips. Hoping that won't be too bad. It's better than chips, is what I keep telling myself...
    Stay strong, all!
      Hello everyone I started induction on 12/1 and have been just about perfect on the 65/30/5...I exercise regularly too but I haven't lost any weight!! Its only day 5 but not a single pound!! Is this normal? I recently lost 25lbs on another diet and I plateau'd not being able to get past 180 so I joined Atkins hoping to trick my body into getting rid of more weight. My starting weight was 205 in August cw 180 gw 135/140? Any suggestions? Everyone keeps saying stick with it but I need to know if its normal before I throw my scale out the window!!!
        It is hard to tell without seeing some menus that you are eating. Try posting your menu and carb counts so that we can see what you have going on.
        When did you start exercising? If this is something new you can gain more muscle mass while loosing fat and not show a drop in the scale. Did you take measurements before you started? If so check to see if you are losing inches.
          Re: Induction Buddies 11/30-12/13
          I'm using fit day and i'm right on or really close with 61/34/5.
          B= 2eggs 2 sausage or 2-3 bacon
          L= Can of Tuna with 2 tbls mayo with 2 cup lettuce
          D=1 cup broccoli with pork chop 2 tbls mayo
          Snack=Celery sticks 2-3 or pork rinds
          Water=150 oz's per day ( I drink alot!!)
          The only thing I'm thinking is the sodium in the pork rinds, but I drink a ton of water!! Maybe it'll come off all of a sudden I'm trying to get discouraged!!
          Thanks for any help!!
            Re: Induction Buddies 11/30-12/13
            I see a lot of processed meat in the bacon and saguage.. that has alot of sodium. I do not see enough good fats in your diet. I see you have lettuce.. is that iceburg or some other higher carb lettuce. You are not eating to your potential of allowed veggies.
            Have you added any olive oil to your lettuce at lunch? adding butter to your broccoli and cooking your pork chops in olive oil will help.
            This is what I see.. but someone with more knowledge will surely pipe in and give you some more advice.
            Good luck and I hope it comes of for you soon.
              Thanks!! I'm adding butter to the eggs when cooking and I put mayo on the broccoli. Thats what I'm thinking is too much sodium, but I feel really good today!!
              Thanks for your help!! More curious if its normal to not have any weight loss during the first full 4 days?
                hey everyone.. so today is day 3 for me.. so far so good.. i went shopping today after a funeral () lol replaced one bad habit with another i know bad! but anyways i hate target.. the smell of popcorn was everywhere!! so i think smelling that made a trigger in cravings for me cause i after i left i wanted chocolate so badly! but no worries i have been a good girl! i think im starting to get the atkin's flu which is bittersweet right. as for exercise im moving but not as much as i would like.. i know i can do more and my body can handle more im just plain lazy! lol.. i figure 20mins is alot better then sitting on the couch.. ill up my 20mins next week by 10.
                ok so when i did atkins months back i seen a thread here that said taking flax pills were fine to take so i bought them then.. but does anyone know the offical answer cause i want to be as clean as possible.
                and do they sell jerky without sugar darnit
                  I added to my first post.. that exercising may replace fat with muscle. If you already lost some weight on another diet you may just be at a plateau for your body. Give your body time to adjust. Another thought is when is your time of the month due? You could be just holding water for that. Lots of reasons.. just stick to the plan and it will just fall off soon.
                    Great suggestions, Michelle Just what I was going to post!
                    If someone has already been losing weight on another diet they are unlikely to experience the 'water weight' loss that many new Atkineers do, so may have to wait a while till their body works out what is happening and allows more losses.
                    Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
                    Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
                      Re: Induction Buddies 11/30-12/13
                      Focused--Yes, I sometimes find it harder to stay on plan during TOM--stupid cravings. I would be so happy to have some chocolate right now. But I won't give in.
                      SimH--Welcome! We expect to lose about 10% of the weight we have to lose in induction, so since you have about 100 lbs to lose, sounds about right. Also a lot of people don't lose anything in their second week, so don't get discouraged if that happens.
                      Deni--Michelle has given you some good advice. Plateaus, TOM, sodium, who knows. Also, there's really no "normal", some people lose fast, some lose slowly. Some lose right away, some people's bodies hold on to the weight to see if we're going to stick with this food pattern...I know I get really frustrated when I compare myself to others because I'm a fairly slow loser. Don't get frustrated...give it the full two weeks. This is a truly great WOL, and you may find you want to keep trying it even if you don't lose a pound yet.
                      It's the weekend--temptation time! My advice, make sure you carry a legal snack with you at all times!
                        Hey Everyone!!! I would love to join the group also! I started Dec 1st and am doing ok. I am REALLY concerned about the lack of fiber issue. I am definately unable to keep things moving. I actually am up .02 lb from yesterday. I know if I get this problem fixed I would probably drop 2-3 lbs. Anyone have any good recommendations? I am dieing here!! The worst part is I have been following induction to a T. I have been eating veggies and lettuce, no soda, no caffeine, no carbs really, I am sooooo frustrated!!!! HELP!!!!!!!
                          Welcome Jodi! There are lots of threads about fiber if you poke around, but in general, DANDR suggests 1 tbsp of psyllium husks or flax seed a day.
                          Personally, I use benefiber, although I'm not good at remembering to use it regularly. It dissolves into my water and is truly tasteless. I also will occasionally sprinkle flax seeds onto a salad or something for a bit of crunch.
                          It's day 7 for me! I ran this morning, and am debating between braving the crowds and going Christmas shopping or curling up on the couch with a movie. Tonight I'm planning to invite people over for dance dance revoltion to get some more exercise.
                          How's everyone doing today?
                            I'm just still in shock... that I can eat like this and lose weight! I'm on day 4 and am down from 307 to 298lbs... that's 9lbs in basically 3 days?? Can you say BLOATED?? I've promised myself not to weigh for another week... otherwise I'll get discouraged because I know there's a big slow down for me.. I also know I lost so much cuz I have so much to lose... (reality check) but I sure would like to be at 290 by Christmas...
                            This morning I made cauliflower leek puree (1 head cauliflower, 3 inches of a leak, 1 stick butter).. sauteed until brown and translucent then mashed it all together.. OH MY GOSH did it taste good.. I had a cup which on FitDay is 5.1 carbs (I think). Anyway it was sooooooooooo good.
                            Does anyone know how to do "recipes" on FitDay??
                            Holly, how far do you run?? I dream of running but it's not gonna happen for a while.. I gotta up my exercise but am giving myself a "break" during this first week of induction (although I am doing major housecleaning and yard work today)...
                              welcome denisek, skinny and smile
                              skinny - well done on your loss, you have done amazingly. i keep jumping up and down on the scales and right now its either staying the same or put on (this is after losing about 7lbs already in 6 days) normally when i see i havent lost or have put on a lb or half a lb it makes me not want to diet no more, but not this time and i have experienced what you mean about not being hungry its a first for me too!! whatever you are doing keep it up cos it seems to be working!!
                              Philliha - wow you are really good to be running. Is this outside and not in the gym? its freezing over here and raining most days so i wouldnt dare go run outside, plus i run for like a few mins and end up walking home panting lol keep up the good work girl!!
                              Focused - dried laver, interesting idea. Not sure if that would kill my snack cravings. ive been looking for a snacky subsititue but with not much luck. really want something sweet to eat. Do you snack on anything else?
                              ------------------
                              I got my book yesterday and am slowly reading it, its a lot of facts in there and i want to fully absorb the information. This is only my day 6 and its the first weekend day that i have attempted to do. I havent been doing any exercise during this week apart from walking like normal. So i had a nice 20 mins walking this morning and 10-13 mins of tae bo dvd. Im trying but i think, no i know i can do alot better
                              hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
                                Skinny: Congrats on your weight loss! 8 pounds in less than a week is amazing. One word of caution: unfortunately the weight won't continue to fall off quite so fast forever. Since you set firm dates for your goals, I just don't want you to be disappointed if they don't happen. Of course your goals are possible, but it's too bad we can't order our bodies to lose weight at the rate we want.
                                Your meal sounds yummy! Aren't the foods we get to eat on Atkins wonderful? As far as adding it to fit day, I think what you're looking for is the "create custom food" feature. I usually start on a blank day, enter in all the ingredients, and use the nutritional report there to create my custom food, if that makes sense. It's going to be tough measuring from raw to cooked though, so I usually estimate the percent of the total recipe that I ate.
                                I usually run about 3 miles. I used to *hate* running passionately and would stick to the elliptical machine, but this summer I moved from Texas to Maryland and I was so happy that it wasn't 100+ degrees outside that I wanted to start exercising outside more. Now I really enjoy running and I'm hoping to do some 5Ks next spring. You'll be able to run sooner than you think, I promise.
