    Okay yall,

Read the book, got 98% of it quite well, but I have a couple of questions.

What do you guys use as salad dressing? I'm not an oil and vinegar sort of gal. I saw some Kens ranch dressing with the words "1 net carb" on the bottle, yet the ingredients list sugar. I'm wondering if it would still be okay for induction though.

I see that sugar free jello is a no-no, that it stalls the weight loss process. Any ideas on a desert that I can make during induction that doesn't involve ricotta?

I did a search through some threads and didn't see the answers to these particular questions, so I apologize if the answers are somewhere I didn't look through.

    Re: Newbie Questions

Strictly speaking, if sugar is listed as an ingredient then it is not Atkins-legal.

From the allowed list of fats & oils:
Prepared salad dressings without added sugar and no more than two carbs per tablespoon serving are also fine.
In USA there are dressings without added sugar commercially available - Dukes is one make I have seen mentioned - so you need to read labels to decide which to buy.

You can also make your own and there are lots of sugarless recipes around.

You will also see many members posting that they use mayonnaises etc that do include sugar without problems, but you will need to decide if you want to risk them yourself or stick to 'no added sugar' as Dr Atkins said.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I usually have oil and vinegar because it's the fastest way to prepare a salad without using "supermarket dressing".

Here's Linda's website -- it has a lot of low carb recipes. The ones appropriate for induction are marked with an asterisk.

I personally use the Ken's dressings. Good flavors, low carbs.

I don't do desserts, it just causes me to want to eat sweet stuff, so I skip them. I have now lost my taste for anything sweet. I don't miss it at all.

I might have a decaf coffee with heavy cream (like I am right now) for a treat.

I'm with Chef Kevin on this one; I'm also a big fan of Ken's. I use their Creamy Cesar dressing most of the time. The creamy cesar has 0 carbs.

You are right it has sugar listed but it is way down on the list and so far I've had no issues with it. I've steadily lost.

I've used it since day 1.

I would stay away from Ken's. If you don't like oil and vinegar, you can use Marie's Blue Cheese - zero carbs and zero sugar. If you don't like blue cheese, though, I guess you could make up some sort of herbal dressing with mayonnaise.

                    Re: Newbie Questions

Not a big fan of blue cheese either. I may just get the Kens and use it very sparingly after my induction phase. Until then, I'll just roll with the oil/vinegar combo or eat my salads plain

Check out Hidden Valley's Ranch Dressing. I use it once in awhile as I do Ken's dressings. I'm an olive oil & red wine vinegar kinda girl! Read the labels!
