  • did i eat enough today? don't think so

    day one... i don't feel like a crazy person and since i couldn't find my original book i bought a new one.

    i don't think i ate enough, and looking at my stats (1337 calories, 10 grams of fat, 13.8 grams of carbs, 92.3 grams of protein)

    i could eat a house but i'm not sure which direction i should be going in. i did my veggies (1 cup artichoke hearts, 2 cups arugula), had 5 oz of cheese, omelet in the morning, ham and cheese at lunch.

    what to have for dinner and late snack?

    10 grams of fat - was that a typo?
    I am not sure what the question is. Atkins tells us to eat regular meals. To eat till we are satisfied but not stuffed. We can have small snacks between meals we get hungry.

      sorry, 107 grams of fat.

      i've since had a cheese snack and a couple of pieces of salami. (which was gross, but my boyfriend loved...)

      but i wasn't really that hungry i just felt i should eat something. i'd have rathered had more artichoke hearts, and i had the carbs left to do so but didn't want to go over my 3 cup limit.

        If you're not hungry, don't worry about how much you did or didn't eat. But cheese is limited to 3-4 ounces a day, not each meal.

          i think i had a total of 5-6 ounces of cheese today, so i'll cut it back from now on.

          my question is really more about the veggies; could i have had a cup more, to bring the carbs up to the limit? or should i only ever have three cups?

            no more than 3 cups of veggies, TOTAL, during induction. That is where your carbs are coming from. Re-read the book or go on here and read the stickies. It will help you. Induction is the first two weeks and things can change after that, so, it is good to familiarize yourself with the rules.

              nope, i have the book. i was just wondering about the carbs i could have eaten but didn't. am i making sense?

                I think on induction you should follow the directions which is three cups of veggies. Some people decide to do it by counting carbs but the cup thing works well. You do not have to eat 20 carbs on induction (but the majority of your carbs should come from veggie sources)

                      I am doing induction, but I don't measure non-starchy veggies, especially green ones.............I have read the book countless times.

                      I just eat until I feel full and satisfied. I lose fine.

                      I have to do this to keep by Blood Sugar in check or I get very, very hypoglycemic...............


                      I still find I don't go over 20 carbs most days.

                        i think i'd be in trouble if i didn't measure the veggies... i could easily eat 10 cups of veggies a day, no problem. (again, veggies, along with fruit, are what killed this diet for me the first two times.) but i'm charting this time and i'm determined.

                        i have 14 pounds to lose (i'd love to lose 20, but 14 will be adequate) and because of some meds i'm on (as noted in the book), losing weight is hard for me. harder still, my boyfriend, whom i live with, is heavy--and he can't on this diet with me because he's type 1 diabetic--so i can't clear out the cupboards of the "bad" stuff.

                          Hi, You know when we get into ketosis, we just don't have the appetite we had before. Its a good sign, just make sure you don't get hungry. Eat something at least every 6 hours.

                          I had to laugh about buying another book, I think during my hay-day, I had 3 going for me.

                            I saw you mentioned your bf is diabetic - you and he might be surprised to hear that many diabetic patients are put on to Atkins nowadays and experience alleviation of their condition through eating lowcarb.

                            We have a special forum discussing diabetes and Atkins that you might get some good info from if you read and post there.
