  • Alright, Alright, Induction is Induction... doing it right.

Okay, so I've done Atkins so many times that I guess I started to feel like I could just guess on quantities/percentages/etc...and I thought I would just do it this time using atkins shakes/diet coke/coffee and more than my allotted veggies.

Well, I woke up this morning, took some of Lyssie's reminders to heart, and decided that tomorrow I start a CLEAN induction, the way induction was meant to be.

The reason I'm starting tomorrow is I need to be prepared, I will spend some time today at work coming up with induction friendly menus with proper percentage ratios, etc. I will post my menus, progress, observations, and concerns for the next two weeks in this thread. Feel free to check in if it interests you.

I was going to just post this in my journal, but induction is really one of the most important parts of the atkins diet, and the majority of questions people have come during this time. So I'm hoping that by having this thread visible to a lot of people on induction, it will inspire questions, answer some questions, and maybe act as a guide.

    Cheers! Happy induction eve!

    Weight today: 156.6

I am with you, I am on day 3 of re-induction. I have maintained at 145 for over a year and I am ready to take the next step toward goal. Especially after all my holiday cheats. Our starting, current and goal weights are not that far off from each other. I lost two lbs already but probably mostly water weight and due to a lot of exercise. Good luck!

Alright! Let's do this!! I wish I was down to 145, but I know I'll be there sooner rather than later. Keep me posted with your induction progress!

Re: Alright, Alright, Induction is Induction... doing it right.

          Good morning!

I'm already off track-- not in the diet, but in my menu, so I'll have to make adjustments later in the day.

          So far, breakfast was:

2 eggs scrambled with 1/4 cups cheddar cheese
          2 glasses water
          1 cup decaf coffee

so i'll need to make up for my 3 pieces of bacon that I didn't have.

I left the bacon sitting out on the counter yesterday and didn't notice until this morning- so I threw it out.

Also this morning, I took the following supplements:

          kelp + selenium+ L-tyrosine (for thyroid health)
          calcium
Flax seed oil (+1g fat for the day)
          vitamin E
          vitamin B complex
          vitamin C
          zinc
          store brand fiber laxative

          weight this morning: 156.6

I know! what is it about bacon that is just so darn good?! I remember my fast-food days-- anything that combined the words "bacon" and "ranch" is what I would order. I love that on Atkins, I can still combine bacon and ranch!

Re: Alright, Alright, Induction is Induction... doing it right.

I can't wait for lunch! It sounds good.

Eggs/Bacon/Fat to me sound so disgusting right now-- i get this way about a week into atkins everytime. It's like my body is telling me "don't eat anymore fat, we've got our fill of fat!!", because it hasn't been fully trained to use fat for energy yet.

Anywho--here's to hoping the next two weeks fly by! Cheers!

Oh- and, on super bowl sunday I may consume a couple of carbfree mixed alcoholic beverages. I'm going to try not to, but if I get the urge, I will make sure it is carb-free and not a beer! I'm really thinking I don't want to though- probably not worth it, I'll be on day 11 of induction which is pretty much prime time.

Re: Alright, Alright, Induction is Induction... doing it right.

Ok so this is what i had for lunch:

                  1 cup bell peppers
                  1 cup cucumber
                  4oz chicken
                  2 glasses water
                  1 tbsp ranch
                  2 tsp mayo

so i added 2 tsp mayo rather than EVOO, so i could get a little extra fat in, with .5oz more chicken for a little extra protein to make up for my missed bacon this morning.

Dinner was as planned. Did not get exercise in, was too tired, will exercise tonight for sure.

                  weight this morning: 156.8

                        Hey there Carbless,
This is day 9 of Re-Induction for me. If it's one thing I have noticed that it gave me an awareness of discipline all over again. Also portion sizes. Induction is totally about discipline.
I know that you will be in an environment where you would like to have carb free cocktails. Sorry, it's not on the Induction Allowed list.
Come on, you can do this. You're right, "it'll be day 11 of Induction which is pretty close to prime time." Wouldn't you like to know once you reached day 14 that you did Induction to the Atkins T. And if you had had those cocktails, if you would of had the same ending results?
Those are the types of questions that go through my head when a minute muffin or an apple is screaming at me to eat. I'm a sugar addict. The addiction never goes away. It's there waiting for me to trigger it. It's all about managing my addiction.
I believe you can get through Super Bowl Sunday without a carb free alcohol. Alcohol is alcohol.
We can do this Carbless! We can get through Induction and move up the Rungs correctly. You'll be able to have your cocktail at Rung 5 and I can have my apple at Rung 7. Let's just jump through all the hoops in all the right order first, Okay?
                        I'm rooting for you.
                        Sincerely, Sherri

Thanks Sherri! You're right! I totally don't need them either-- before I know it, that day will have come and gone- and I'll be upset with myself If I look back knowing I gave into temptation and spoiled my efforts. I hope you do well with reinduction, I'm sure you will!

I don't know, but I'm having a really hard time! I have tons of willpower, but I don't remember it being this hard the other times I've done Atkins-- I'm not lighter on the scale either, but I definitely feel trimmer and have dropped .5 inch on my waist.
