  • Ketostix & Induction & Sagging Skin

    Hi All,

Im new here as some will know and I am now properly and fully (I hope) in induction phase

I lost 5 pounds of weight since before being in induction, is what average?

Also I went and bought some ketostix, (great arent they?lol), and they helped me know I was in ketosis for the past few days.

A question I have is this: I seem to be at the moderate 40 mg/dl on the ketostix, so is that good and does that mean im losing fat fast?

Also have i understood correctly, that as long as im in ketosis I will be losing/burning fat?...because I keep asking if my portions are too big or small or if im satisfied rather than binging.

Also will I get sagging skin from losing weight? and if so how can I prevent this and any stretch marks or cant i?

    Thank you

Depends on how much you have to lose. An average induction loss is 5-10% of your excess weight. After you finish induction, you should figure out your level of metabolic resistance using the table on page 158 of DANDR 2002.

      Read this sticky:

If you are in ketosis, your body will get its energy from burning fat. This does not necessarily mean you will be losing weight. You can keep your carbs low by eating a pound of butter (0 carbs) and then your body has no other alternative than using fat for energy... so you will be in ketosis. However, your caloric intake would probably be too high to allow weight loss.

I don't know how much you have to lose... Sagging skin is partly a matter of genetics. There are things you can do to help, but it really depends on each person what the final result will be. Lifting weights helps, some say dry brushing also improves the skin appearance. There's a link in Adena's signature about saggy skin... here it is: The Myth of Loose Skin

LOSING 10% OF WHAT YOU WANT TO LOSE IS ABOUT AVERAGE. SO IF YOU WANTED TO LOSE 50 POUNDS YOUR RIGHT ON

Also I went and bought some ketostix, (great arent they?lol), and they helped me know I was in ketosis for the past few days.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE STICKS IS THAT THEY ONLY TELL YOU IF YOUR SPILLING FAT INTO YOUR URINE. IT MIGHT BE BURNED BODY FAT OR IT MIGHT ME THE BACON YOU ATE FOR BREAKFAST.

Also have i understood correctly, that as long as im in ketosis I will be losing/burning fat?...because I keep asking if my portions are too big or small or if im satisfied rather than binging.
YES, BUT AGAIN IT MIGHT NOT BE BODY FAT. YOUR HUNGER SHOULD BE YOUR GUIDE ABOUT PORTION SIZES. VERY OFTEN WE EAT 2000 TO 3000 CAL A DAY WHEN WE FIRST START AND THEN GRADUALLY WE NEED LESS FOOD AND EAT LESS. EAT UNTIL YOUR SATISFIED.

Also will I get sagging skin from losing weight? and if so how can I prevent this and any stretch marks or cant i?

YOU MAY BUT EVENTUALLY IT SHOULD TIGHTEN UP

        Thank y
