Me too Liv, do you think Red onion would have more carbs than ordinary old yellow/spanish onion? just a thought as I always buy Red onions.

No. I think they are about the same. On induction I used a lot of green onion. Gave me the onion taste that I love but far less carbs.

          Re: Fitday confusion!!

In the UK edition some clever (?) editor changed the 2 - 3 cup & 1 cup instructions into grams/ounces - maybe using one of the listed veggies as an example, but not accounting for the fact that one cup of lettuce weighs a lot less than one cup of radishes !!

So depending on the veg you choose you might be way out on your quantities.

There is a good thread in this forum called 'weight of veg per cup' which you can look at and work out whether you are choosing more or less than a cup of each veg to get at roughly the equivalent of 3 cups in total.

After induction it is easier as we go by net carbs, not cups for the rung one veg additions
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            OH NO!!

so what is your advice then? weigh or do the cup thing? I wil get this weight off and only have me to blame if I don't NOT some idiotic editor...unbelievable

And what is a "cup" I know DANDR says Imagine a fist but my fist is a lot smaller than my bosses (also female) so thats not really a guide!

A cup is 8 ounces of water. When I am not in the US, I use a regular 8 oz cup of coffee to measure foods.

You can get those measuring cups in most supermarkets if you want to use them. Otherwise you can use the weights that Soliwit listed in her thread. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...p-measure.html

Just a thought, Debbie - I can't imagine the foods you listed could be so many carbs, so maybe you have something listed wrongly on your fitday account?

You can get a link from fitday that you can post here so we can see your entries and tell if you have some quantities wrong.

After logging on to your fitday account select the 'Profile' tab then scroll down to the bottom where you will see a button called something like 'make my journal public'.

Click on that and you will be given a url ending something like "owner=yourname" that you can post here in a post or your signature that will let others see your food log.

                    Re: Fitday confusion!!

I thought that too Elizellen and the culprit was my Onion!!! I had a whole onion which weighed 4 oz so I entered it as 1 onion which came out at 25g!!!!!. There were so many choices to choose from for onion, I chose "Onion, raw, sweet" because red onions weren't listed but they are sweet....4oz still came out at 8.6! I think I might have to lay off the Onion.

                      Re: Fitday confusion!!

According to the 'weight per cup' threead
                      1 cup chopped onion = 160 gr = 5,6 oz
so you were fine eating 4 ounces which is about 115 grams.

with 2 cups of the 'salad veg' list and one cup of onions it still would keep you well below the 20 net grams I would have thought.

Remember we are supposed to get 'most' of our carbs from our veg on induction, so don't worry about including onions in your veg.
