  • Induction day 14

    Hello All

I thought I would share my induction results with you. After taking 2 months to wean off peanut butter, coffee and Vodka - I started a clean induction.

My start weight was 126lbs and my goal is 112lbs, I am currently at 116lbs - so during the last 2 weeks I have lost 10lbs and am totally amazed, I have 4 lbs till target!! I never thought I would of lost so much - even on atkins as I do not lose so quick as a rule. My body goes into reserve mode big time.

However I have been shattered by mid afternoon every day and sleep really badly

It can happen - have faith!

Congrats on the weight loss. That is a large number!

I too have found that I sleep less. I thought it was just me. I sleep well during the time that I am asleep, but only sleep about 6 hours on average.

Thanks everyone for your kind replies, it really does all help with ongoing motivation
            and enthusiasm.

It's also good to hear feedback in regards to sleep, I am finding it such a battle.

              Hi Sallyann!
Great job on your loss! I have to ask, you said it took some time before you could do a clean induction, were you doing a not-so-clean induction before and just did 2 weeks clean? I am curious for all those who "think" they are doing induction, but allow items in that they souldn't be adding. If so, your story is the exact reason why doing induction clean is the best and will get the best results. You are already small and to have such a big loss in such a short amount of time is awesome!

                Re: Induction day 14

                Thanks Mrs Hartzell
I have never been a big bread/cake/cookie eater and really dislike potatoes, so I have been a low carb eater by default. However I adore peanut butter, almost addictive (sad but true), which to have even a teaspoon of whilst on induction would be a major no no. I have known a few people to do the 'atkins' WOE, but have had a little fruit snack, or a hard boiled sweet which of course means the induction is not going to work. These little errors have in fact made their weight increase and fluid retention due to the extra fats they are eating on the induction...

I also had, prior to induction, a strong expresso when I woke up which I needed to make sure I could manage without. I craved this in the morning and hated this feeling. The same with Vodka, at the end of every day I would have a vodka and tonic.

It was the peanut butter and vodka that gave me the extra 14lbs I am sure – no doubt about it, as I ate low carb anyhow. I tried to kid myself it was not these products…

These addictions had to go and as soon as they did, I increased my fats and had a totally clean induction.

The weight has just fallen and very quickly as a result, but totally clean is the key otherwise the fat burning process just will not work, it can’t.

I am a small build, all the ladies in our family are and I am quite tallish at 5’6” so I will have to be mindful not to overdo it. Before Christmas, say October I was only 106lbs, which was too thin but quite normal for me. I hit stress big time and started to drink in the evenings – only 1 Vodka and tonic (several measures) and eating the peanut butter by the spoonful (never on bread or toast)…so I knew they had to go!

Clean is the only way, and a great way to break addictive food habits.

                  Great losing, Sallyann

Are you off to OWL now?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                    Hi Sallyann,

                    Congrats!!! That is awesome.

Because I also don't have alot to lose I wanted to ask you what you ate during induction, how many cals, carbs etc. Can you give us a sample menu?

I'm coming to the end of my induction and though I've lost 4-5 lbs (of the 20 or so pounds I have to lose) I know I could've done better so I'm going to try again and extend induction for another 2 weeks and keep it clean this time.

                    Any tips would be appreciated,

Congratulations on losing 20-25% of your total hoped-for loss in only 2 weeks!! with such a low resistance to weightloss I doubt you are one of the people Dr Atkins thought would benefit from longer on induction and would probably be better off moving straight on to OWL.

Like Sallyann you need to start to discover your CCLL and see if any foods affect your body adversely which you can only do in OWL.
