  • BMR question

So do I need to eat close to my BMR to keep from going into starvation mode? I'm supposed to be eating around 1900 calories a day. I've been running on 1200-1700 calories a day and have noticed a definite slowing of loss. Thanks!

BMR is the minimal amount of calories your body needs to function. So, if you were in a coma, the doctors could give you 1900 calories a day without having to worry they are overfeeding you. So yes, eating too far below your BMR can derail your weight loss efforts.

Just found the answer in the FAQ section, thanks! It goes against everything I have ever learned to eat that much and still lose weight, but I'm going to give it a good shot!
