The simple answer is "no", but if you want to know why

Re: Atkins Bars..are they ok???
When I did Atkins for the first time (about 4 years ago) I ate Atkins products and still lost 60lbs in 6 months. However, this time around I can not say that I can. In fact, today's Atkins products are waaaaaay different (just look at the label for whats in them). So, I had about a 2.5 week stall during my first month of Atkins which my scale stayed the same, once I just out the Atkins products...I began to lose again. So, to answer your question...every one is different. However, whole foods is better for EVERYONE than any Atkins processed product.

Re: Atkins Bars..are they ok???
And as a general rule for any premade/processed products you can tell if they are allowed on induction by looking at the list of ingredients to make sure all of them are on the allowed list of foods for induction.
So if they contain nuts/milk/soy/wheat/fruit etc then they need to be left till you are at the appropriate level/rung of OWL that does allow all of the ingredients.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Atkins Bars..are they ok???
This is pretty confusing. I just went on the Atkins website and it says that the shakes and bars are appropriate for all phases. I find them helpful as snacks, but can understand them causing stalls in weight loss if they become a crutch.
Is there a another piece of information I'm not privy to?
Right now I have one bar and one shake a day as snacks.
Thanks!

Here is an excerpt from the rules of induction which in my opinion rules out most if not all of the Atkins products for inductionOriginally posted by simone777 View PostThis is pretty confusing. The Atkins website seems to have decided that these rules in DANDR somehow do not apply to their products most of which contain items specifically 'forbidden' by rule 44. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
5. Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing! Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.
An interesting fact is that on the Atkins company website before they changed their thinking and started really promoting their products was that they used to have a page devoted to the problems many people 'might' have of stalling while using them which recommended dropping them if you experienced problems losing while eating them.
For some reason this has vanished. Hmmm I wonder why

Re: Atkins Bars..are they ok???
I was also confused about the Atkins bars. The website recommends, during induction, to have a bar and a shake each day as a snack. I'm 5 days into induction, and about 5 pounds down and in full ketosis now. I've been doing a bar and a shake for the last 3 days and it hasn't changed anything. Maybe cutting them out will speed things up.
After reading the bar box, the front says 2g net carbs, but the label has 22g carbs, 11g fiber on the back. Deceptive? Anyone know what the thinking can be on this?
The shakes say 1g net. They have 5g carbs, 4g fiber so I'm on board with this one."People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those of us who are doing it." - George Bernard Shaw

As long as you ckeck the list of ingredients to make sure all of them are allowed on the phase of Atkins you are at.Originally posted by NewToAtkins View PostThe shakes say 1g net. They have 5g carbs, 4g fiber so I'm on board with this one.
Here is the label from one of the shakes

It contains milk and soy so in my opinion is not 'legal' till you are up to OWL rung 6 - legumes.
Also it contains more grams of protein than fat so I bet it would be higher in protein percentage than the 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs we aim for on induction. When you do decide to use them make sure you add extra fat to avoid overdoing the protein!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Atkins Bars..are they ok???
About the bars saying 22g of carbs and 11g of fiber, the other 11g are sugar alcohols, which are supposed to have "minimal" impact on blood sugar levels.
