Wanted to mention that this thread had an affect on me.
First I LOVE mushrooms but I hadn't purchased any for months, years even just cause they always seem to be so expensive in our area.
Then I read this thread, and started thinking about fresh mushrooms. Umm, I really could enjoy nibbling on some. Or putting them into my morning omlet. Or just to saute some and have them as a side dish with my chicken or beef or hamburger or by themselves.
And then when we stopped into the grocery store on Sunday there was a 3# box of mushrooms for $5, just sitting there. Big and beautiful and white. I couldn't believe the low price and thought about how often I purchased a bag or two of chips for that price. They went into my basket.
I have so enjoyed them this week. Thanks for getting me to think again about one of my favorite snacking foods.
And I also picked up asparagus, lovely green, fresh aspargus. They have gone into my morning omlet, and have been steamed and sprinkled with a cream sauce (heavy cream-butter-cheddar cheese)---ummmmm. My garden asparagus hasn't started appearing yet, but when it does I'm going to need lots of ideas. (hint, hint...) I have 20 plants that I'll be able to harvest for 2 weeks this spring.
