  • Confused....

okay... i have been on this diet for over a week now, and i havent lost any weight. i am in the induction phase, and have stayed wayyyy under 20g of carbs a day... on average I eat about 6 to 8 grams of carbs a day. Nothing has changed... I feel better in my clothes, but no weight or inches have come off.... What am I missing????? Ive read Dr. Atkins' book and I thought that I was doing everything right.
Is it because Im "female" and its harder for a women to loose? WHAT?
I really want this to work for me. Does anyone have any advice?
    Please!!!
    thanks.

    Re: Confused....

Maybe you aren't eating enough food and your body is in starvation mode. I think 6 to 8 carbs isn't enough. Are you eating 3 cups of veggies a day?. And are you getting enough fat? It would be easier to see what you are doing if you posted your menu here.

Could you post a daily menu, exercise and water intake? I think more could help you with that.

        Thanks,

How many calories are you taking in?? I know we are not suppose to count calories, but you have to make sure you are taking in enough - or your body will go into starvation mode. How about your water in take??

            Re: Confused....

As no-one loses weight in a regular way, you might be one of those whose body needs a while to get into the losing mood Some people lose weight at first then have a week or so of no loss, others dont lose anything for a week or so at first. And some lose nothing in the first few weeks but get the other benefits of Atkins like feeling better in themselves moodwise or as regards aches and pains and only start to lose after a few weeks on Atkins.

As well as a detailed menu for a day or more maybe you can list some stats like height/start weight/goal weight?

Many of us put this info in our signature block so it is there each time we post.

BTW I am moving this thread into the 14-day induction forum as this is more relevant to your situation

While a cup and a half of lettuce is something, if your going to eat lettuce, it shouldn't be iceberg as it has little going for it vitamin/mineral wise, make it the darkest leaf lettuce you can find. Broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, zucchini, pumpkin, are all good choices which you can have at least one cup of plus the lettuce.
One more thing, post your menu and let some of the experts check it out cause I think something is wrong and maybe they can help.

Also, the majority of your daily carbs should be from vegetables. Lettuce has about 1 net carb per cup (if even that.) So if you are eating 6-8 net carbs daily, then at least 4-5 of those carbs must be from vegetables---not cheese (which we count as 1 net carb per ounce), not eggs (about 1 net carb per egg), not processed meats, not heavy cream (about 1 net carb per tablespoon), etc.

                    Re: Confused....

Thank you all for your input... it actually is helping, especially because I feel a bit discouraged. I dont know if there is a special way to list my daily menu, but here is what I typically eat on any given day: 2 eggs, 5 or 6 pieces of bacon with Hot sause (no carbs) coffee and cream and one sweetener, lunch: chicken and 1 cup of salad with ceasar dressing, a coke zero (no carbs) Supper: grilled chicken again or eggs again. For snacks throughout the day, I eat Pork Reins. (zero carbs)

                      2 eggs = 2 net carbs
coffee = 1 net carb per 8 fluid ounces according to the Dr. Atkins New Diet Carbohydrate Counter
cream = 1 net carb per tablespoon
sweetener= 1 net carb per packet
                      1 cup salad = 1 net carb

regarding the bacon, most bacons have sugar and so the nutritional info is only accurate for the serving size listed.
Cesar dressing: look at the serving size you are using.

And also look at the ingredients of the pork rinds because some of them contain sugar.

Furthermore you are limited to 3 servings of sweetener.

no , im not ever hungry... but to be on top of things, if there is a lot of "Sugar" in the ingredients, i should refrain from eating it? even if there are little to no carbs???
Also, for the induction, how much veggies should I be eating a day and what type of veggies????
Thank you sooo much for all the help.... this is a great site, and Im soooo happy that i have the support you are giving me!

                            You should avoid sugar

                            Vegetables
                            Vegetables
You can have two to three cups per day of:

                            hearts of palm
                            string or wax beans

                            kohlrabi
                            tomato
                            bean sprouts
                            leeks
                            turnips
                            cabbage
                            okra
                            water chestnuts
                            cauliflower
                            onion
                            zucchini
If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.

In addition you can have 1/2 avocado a day and 10-20 olives.
