  • Really confused about meal plans

I went to www.atkins .com to get some recipes for induction phase and got very confused. Below is an example:

    Basic Cheese Omelet

    Nutritional Information
    Per Serving:

    Net Carbs: 2 grams
    Total Carbs: 2 grams
    Fiber: 0 grams
    Protein: 20 grams
    Fat: 23 grams
    Calories: 290
    Makes: 4 servings
    Prep Time: 20 minutes
    Total Time: 20 minutes

Once you’ve cooked omelets, keep them warm in a 200°F oven while you prepare the remaining ones. Feel free to add a form of protein either as a side or directly into your omelet such as sliced bacon or sausage.
    Ingredients:
    • 8 large eggs
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
    • 4 teaspoons unsalted butter
    • 4 ounces grated cheddar cheese (1 cup)

Basically I am confused because this recipe makes 4 servings and I am not sure if I am supposed to eat the 4 servings myself or whether this recipe is to be shared amonhst 4 people. The website does not state clearly how many servings one should consume. Every recipe is for 2 servings or more so I am baffled.....! As it is, I already ate 3 servings of the above recipe.

Then this is the lunch recipe:

    Creamy Mushroom Soup

    Nutritional Information
    Per Serving:

    Net Carbs: 5 grams
    Total Carbs: 6 grams
    Fiber: 1
    Protein: 5 grams
    Fat: 21 grams
    Calories: 230
    Makes: 6 (1-cup) servings
    Prep Time: 30 minutes
    Total Time: 30 minutes

Using wild mushrooms rather than regular button mushrooms adds great flavor to this creamy soup—try a blend of shiitake, cremini or porcini. If you prefer to avoid alcohol, replace the sherry with an additional 1/2 cup of broth.
    Ingredients:
    • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1/2 small onion, coarsely chopped
    • 1 garlic clove, chopped
    • 1 pound mixed mushrooms, sliced
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
    • 4 cups lower sodium vegetable broth
    • 1/2 cup dry sherry
    • 1 cup heavy cream
For lunch I had 2 cups of soup............so that should be about 12 grams of carbs

    Dinner recipe

    Cheese N Chili Chops

    Cauliflower Salad

    Nutritional Information
    Per Serving:

    Net Carbs: 2 grams
    Total Carbs: 4 grams
    Fiber: 2 grams
    Protein: 59 grams
    Fat: 25 grams
    Calories: 496
    Makes: 2 servings
    Prep Time: 5 minutes
    Total Time: 20 minutes

A sure-fire winner with kids. Read nutrition labels before you buy salsa: carb grams per serving vary greatly.
    Ingredients:
    • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
    • salt and pepper
    • 4 boneless center-cut pork chops (about 1 pound)
    • 1/4 cup tomato salsa
    • 1/2 can (4.5 ounces) diced green chilies, drained
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • 1/3 cup grated Cheddar cheese
    • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
    Nutritional Information
    Per Serving:

    Net Carbs: 2 grams
    Total Carbs: 4 grams
    Fiber: 2 gram
    Protein: 2 gram
    Fat: 5 grams
    Calories: 388
    Makes: 8 servings
    Prep Time: 15 minutes
    Total Time: 20 minutes

    Ingredients:
    • 1 medium head cauliflower, broken into small florets
    • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
    • 3 scallions, chopped (3 tablespoons)
    • 1 jalapeño pepper, very finely chopped (2 tablespoons) or chopped green bell pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
Am I supposed to eat 2 servings or more of each meal?

Re: Really confused about meal plans

You are not "supposed" to eat 1, 2 or 8 servings. On Atkins, you should eat when you are hungry or have gone more than 6 hours without eating. When eating, you should eat until you are satisfied, but not stuffed. Whether this means 1 serving or 1.5 or 3, it really depends on each person.

BTW, the mushroom soup isn't legal for Induction as it is written because it contains dry sherry, which is an alcoholic beverage.

Re: Really confused about meal plans

They are a little weird over there at the atkins nutritionals in the sense they sometimes add ingredients that a person should not have. I don't know if it is just sloppyness... or what?
But with some caution you can find good recipes there.
(The company is not really Atkins but it is a commercial company selling Atkins products. So trust it as much as you would trust any salesman )
