  • Day 4 and I feel like @#*&

    I'm guessing it's just my body adjusting to burning fat ... but man I could use some sugar!
    Determined not to let this break me ... I took the dog for a brisk ( well, brisk for me any how) walk around the block. So now I'm pumped and feel like crap at the same time ... kinda weird .

    S/C/G 180/160/150


    Minigoals
    Goal#1: 169 and daily walks with the dog. Met
    Goal#2: 159 and Schutzhund with the dog ... but not getting out of breath. Longer, faster paced walks with dog 3x/week. MET
    Goal#3: 150 , Hiking 3 times a week for a total of 15 or more miles, Bike 1-2 times a week.

    Hi Barb! Welcome to ADBB!

    You know you'll feel better in a day or two. This is just the last bump before you start "melting" fat efficiently.

    Good job for exercising -- happier dog, slimmer you.

      Thanks ... that's what I keep telling myself ... it will get better ... this too shall pass.
      Oh, and yes ... the dog was quite happy ... loves to walk. If the weather's nice on Tuesday (my day off) I think I'll take him for a hike.

        Agreed. That's when the "Atkins Flu" hits. My body felt weird, had minor headaches, all the signs that my body was adjusting. It will pass and you will feel great! I fell waayyy better during the day and slaeep better at night. It truly is a night and day difference!

        Also, like you I had sugar cravings and a dependence on soda. I bought some Pepsi ONE. It has Splenda which is induction friendly and my craving disappears when I have one with dinner.

          Thanks for the encouragement ... and wow ... 38lbs - way to go!!!
          I think I will try some Pepsi one and also diet root beer ... I think that's safe too.

            Thanks! I have been losing on regular measures since the beginning of the year but hit a wall about a month ago. Looked into Atkins and just started this week. Very impressed thus far though! This way of life definitely got a bad rap but you cannot deny the results!

            Pepsi ONE works great for me. Just watch out on the Diet Root Beer, I noticed some are sweetened with Aspartame which is a no-no on Atkins. Splenda is key here.

              I'm having trouble finding Pepsi One. All I see is Zero ... it has the dreaded Aspartame in it. I'll check on the diet root beer. I'm very into reading lables these days. Can't say I like all the non food suff I'm reading.

                I think it was Pepsi ONE anyway. I will check when I get home to make sure that's correct. It's very good to read the food labels. I feel weird when I go shopping and I'm reading about everything I buy. People probably think I'm crazy!

                  Pepsi ONE - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

                  The Pepsi ONE ingredients are: carbonated water, caramel color, natural and artificial flavors, phosphoric acid, potassium benzoate (preservative), sucralose (Splenda brand), caffeine, citric acid, and acesulfame potassium.
                  What I do:
                  Elliptical gym machine 1 hr Tue-Sun
                  At 320, switch to cycling on my Trek 500
                  2 filtered containers water/day
                  Daily salads/veggies

                      Barb - I looked at your fitday and I think you have to review the rules.
                      following the rules of induction strictly helps you beat the cravings (don't feed sugar cravings with anything)

                        Well, at least I know what I'm looking for. Now I just need to find it. I did find a "Refreshing Diet Cola" according to the lable, at Walgreens ... their brand. I'ts not to awful.

                          ya, I know my diet needs some help. I hate to cook. I work nights tonight, so I have my salad and other munchy stuff here to eat. I did make a shopping list for myself, using the list .. so I have more things around to choose from. I read all those links yesterday, so I have a better handle on what I can have. That's how I found out I can't have 1/2 and 1/2.

                            OK that is good to hear. I am glad you're getting into it.
                            So no more berries or cottage cheese either.

                            One of the secrets to success on Atkins is to prepare. Without it many fail. So cook things ahead. Especially if you need stuff to eat at work. Use boiled eggs, left over meats. Make a quiche and eat it over the next few days. Start figuring out what you can do with the legal list.

                            The other thing I would say (and it may not be popular with some people) is to stop looking for those artificial sugar drinks. Your body does not need that kind of crap. Drink plenty of water. And I mean Plenty. I never leave anywhere without my water bottle. Avoid sweeteners as much as you can. If you have cravings feed your body protein and food.

                              Thanks so much, I thought the list said raspberries were OK ... where did I get that from??? Oh well, Hubby will eat them, not the cottage cheese tho. I was going to try drinking a diet drink instead of coffee. Maybe I'll switch to tea or something. I just love my coffee tho.
