  • what to snack on?

I am on day 2 of induction and am doing okay but wonder what everyone snacks on? I read about cheddar cheese crisps and have made those in a batch of 5 but then am worried about eating too much cheese? Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Three to four ounces of cheese is a lot. As long as you stay within the 3 to 4 ounce rule, you should be okay. I say should, because some people, me included, stall out on any amount of cheese.

      Snacks:
      • Chunks of meat dipped in mayo. I cut up strips of chicken, turkey or beef and keep them in a container in the fridge. I either use straight mayo or a mix of mayo and mustard to dip it in. Fast and yummy.
      • Celery stalks filled with cream cheese (*counts in your cheese allowance).
      • Cucumbers with cream cheese*
      • Pork rinds: I like to make a dip from legal salsa (Pace) and sour cream and dip it up with pork rinds. Spread a little butter on the pork rinds, sprinkle on some Splenda and cinnamon, put in oven just until the butter melts, and it tastes like cinnamon toast
      • Deli ham, mustard and sf pickle roll-ups.
      • Olives
      • Viggie sticks dipped in Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I have tried pork rinds in the past and dont particularly care for them but the splenda & cinnamon sprinkled ones sound pretty good!

        Thanks again for the ideas!

I hated even the thought of eating pork rinds back when I first started. Now I have to hide the bag or I eat the whole thing!

I'm on day 5 and there's no way I could choke down a snack. I get horribly full for 4-5 hours after eating a meal.

I have been eating pork rinds, never thought I would ever eat them.
Question, I thought we were not allowed to have sour cream on the induction, are we? If we can that would help a lot.

On page 129 Atkins says one ounce of sour cream is allowed.

Chicken wings are good snacks. I like deviled eggs too.

Ditto deviled eggs! They are so tasty and filling. Plain boiled eggs are a good, portable snack.

Same here. After eating some hamburger patties or a steak, I'm so full that I don't eat again for hours.

Can you recommend a restaurant which has allowable chicken wings, i.e. no sauces or sugar added?

I would be weary about a restaurant. I make my own and use Frank's Hot sauce. (it is legal)

I use Alton Brown's chicken wing recipe. It is a bit cumbersome but makes excellent wings. Very good with a blue cheese sauce

Am I the only one who can't find pork rinds? I would have bet money that my grocery store, which carries everything, would have them, but it doesn't. I checked out another grocery store and couldn't find them there either. I thought pork rinds were common!
