I'm getting bored of the foods I'm eating. I didn't realize it would be this difficult. I was almost entirely a vegetarian prior to beginning Atkins. Of course as many of you are, a huge carb-junkie as well. It's not that I didn't like meat, I just liked bread/carb items better. Seems that all I did was think about my next carb binge. Now I'm eating meat and fat I'm bored half to death. I almost can't be bothered to eat at this point. How do you guys deal with this???? Thanks.

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
The 'getting bored' might be something to do with being in ketosis too, as one of the signs is a lack of appetite.
So plan and eat your meals even if it does seem boring, and in time your appetite will probably return.
To go off tangent a bit - some of my 'naturally skinny' friends seem to have little interest in what they are eating, so maybe it isn't a bad thing
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
I so agree - start figuring out more what you do. Check out the recipes. Work things out. You deserve it.
Now I liked bread/carbs too. Loved it. But I hated being close to 180 lbs. And this is a prize I am willing to pay. You will be able to incorporate more food items and more carbs and even some grains after a while but induction has to be nice and clean.
Have you tried revolution rolls? Cauliflower pizza? Cauliflower potato bake? Cheesecake? Proscuito with a nice cheese roll up?
Hang in there. You can do it.

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
I plan to try recipes later.... who knows when, but I have to say that I am positively thrilled that I am completely uninterested in food.
In fact, it made me think of a thin friend also that said that her attitude toward food is never ever excitement toward it. Its just there and she eats a little and thats it.
My lack of interest is encouraging also!

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
Make menus.
My wife and I just got our disaster peparedness supplies in order, including what we will eat for a year in case of emergency. One of the tasks was to create menus so we would know what to buy, what to expect and to know that we would actually enjoy what we store. The same goes for Atkins. Not that induction is an emergency, but I think you will agree it is indeed a wake-up call to your body and therefore your emotions, and without a menu, you might be staring at the list of approved foods and feeling helpless.
Make 7 menus for breakfast and 7 for lunch, to start. You're a vegan, so draw out on paper the meals you can live with, within approved portions. After a few months, you will get bored of those 14 meals, and then you can add more. Of course, by then, you will be long past the induction flu and feel more normal.
Success!

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
When I got bored I got in my closet and started trying on clothes.Found a lot of nice things I couldn't fit in.Divided them into sections.Like I should be able to wear this in 2 weeks, this in a month, this in a couple of months.Bout wore them out trying them on.But I am able to fit into everything in my closet and a lot of the clothes are now too big.Playing in the closet can be fun as well as trying on clothes in stores.Never thought I would say that.

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
I have never been bored with the food choices we have - sorry you are. I have several meals I make ahead and freeze for days I don't feel like cooking and I have favorites we eat a lot.
Hope you can find a way to stay with the plan.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
I think that it is important to understand that Atkins is more than just losing weight ... it is about re-learning or in my case, learning how to eat. Problem was, I was always looking for the excitement or the satisfying of food cravings. How many people do we hear on this board say that they couldn't live without ... chocolate, beer, brownies, candy ... you fill in the blanks. Anyway, Atkins approaches this way of eating based in science. As another poster said, it is about fueling our bodies, expending our fuel with exercise, hydrating and eating soundly and nutritiously.
There is a saying that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. This held true for me with food ... loose weight, gain it back, lose and gain more. While you do induction, use the time wisely and become aware of your eating patterns and why and what you eat and how you feel when you do and when you cave in to your cravings.
It is more about just following the Rules and the Food List ... take the time to learn why you repeat the patterns.
When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
I SOO can relate! And I'm only on my 4th day!
I'm already dreaming about ice cream and donuts! LoL
But as they say, it's a price to pay! I'll check Linda's recipe and stop complaining...
The weather is beautiful outside (Norway), I've already lost 2,8 pounds (almost a pound a day!) and I'm feeling good!
Dont Fortget to drink your watter!!
Best of Luck!

Re: On day 6 and I'm getting bored
It is difficult being almost vegetarian. I do not really like/ enjoy meat either. I was a vegetarian for a number of years. I do sort of know what you are feeling. The recipes on Linda's site are awesome and I use them a lot, but cooking is a big deal for me. I almost always mess them up in some way and have to try a few times before I get it right.
As you move through the rungs, you should be able to eventually use the morning star products. The "fake" sausages and burgers. I just love the grillers. I do like the taste of bacon so I eat a small amount each day. I have managed to also eat chicken with hot wing sauce and hamburgers loaded with lettuce and tomato. There are still a lot of things you can experiment with. Slice zuccini and add cheese and bacon on top and bake in the oven. Yum - skip the bacon if you want. Add some avocado after it comes out of the oven. Wow, love the avocado.149.8/no weigh/ 119

1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
rung 4 - berries, melon
rung 5 - wine -
rung 6 - beans, hummus
rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
(on to pre-maintenance)
