  • Day 4 - 7.5 lbs lost!

Weighed myself this morning and my weight was down from 175.5 to 168 - 7.5 pound lost and I officially no longer have an obese BMI, yay!
Plus this is only the morning of day 4 of induction! Water weight probably, but who cares. I have been going by the book completely - not a cheat. My appetite is low, my energy is high, exercising every day, and I feel like I can succeed on this for sure. Feeling good!!

Yay! Yay! Yay! Isn't no appetite the best part?

I just want to warn you that I lost 10 pounds the first week, but only lost a total of 12 by the second week. So at least half of my first week lost was probably water weight. I'm definitely not complaining about 12 pounds, or trying to discourage you. Just trying to warn you not to get disappointed if the scales don't keep moving like that. And that is a main reason it's suggested not to weigh yourself until after induction.

      But definitely...congrats!!!

                  Re: Day 4 - 7.5 lbs lost!

So... day 7. I don't know if I want to weigh myself or not. I think I'll wait until I have dealt with one of my least favorite atkins side effects - requiring psyllium husks- sorry if that's tmi.
Things have slowed down a little as far as I can tell in terms of weight loss, basically judged by how my clothes are fitting. My daily flow yoga classes seem to be starting to reshape me a little (my boyfriend says that everything looks a little 'tighter').
Also, I had to take some painkillers and that perhaps has stalled things a little? I don't know. Probably has more to do with the fact that I had green tea with caffeine for a few days and my appetite came back with a vengeance...SO important for me not to drink caffeine. There is also a general feeling of omg how far I have to go (made the mistake of trying on my fat pants from before my last burst of weight gain and they fit just fine)
On the upside: got my vitamins and started taking them, haven't cheated with any foods, keeping up with fitday, exercising 6 days a week (which is six more a week then I was doing), and definitely going in the right direction.

                    Re: Day 4 - 7.5 lbs lost!

Hi Phaedra!! You have the same starting weight and goal weight as me...I'm only on day 5 and it feels like a life time. I'm with you about the caffeine -- it makes me hungrier than i already am! it sucks but i <3 my diet cokes.

I gave myself 3 months to lose a decent amount of weight but just found out yesterday my girlfriend moved her wedding date up to 4 weeks from now cuz she's pregnant and doesnt want to be THAT huge for her wedding. OMG i'm freaking out cuz there's no way i'll be bridesmaid ready in 4 weeks! I need to start working out, but it's stressing me out because i wont even be half way to my goal -- what to do!!

But it's great to read about your progress, it helps me want to stay motivated, and i def. need to work out. Yoga, how can you start from 0 to 6 days?? doesnt your whole body want to shut down? that's amazing, good job!! i'm envious you've been able to stick to it every day

                      Re: Day 4 - 7.5 lbs lost!

                      hey Susianna,
Yeah I've been sore every day for a week now - but it's totally worth it because I have started seeing little changes and some toning even after 6 days...also, 40 pounds ago I used to have a regular yoga practice every day so mentally it isn't as much of a shock to plunge in as it might have been otherwise. Basically I'm treating dieting and exercise like it's my job. : )
Trying to lose weight for events SUCKS. How many times have I been there. The reason I made the decision to lose the weight once and for all this time is that at this weight I had just given up on events - especially ones where I would see people who I used to know when I was thiner. Maybe it's vain and shallow but it was just too mortifying what they might be thinking.
Anyway - happier news, down to 166 today. No a lot more since day 4 but 9.5 pounds in one week is alright with me!
                      Hang in there!

                        Re: Day 4 - 7.5 lbs lost!

                        Hi!!

I'm so going to start yoga or some sort of exercise too...i used to kickbox/box and literally you could see improvements in a week or two as well. it makes me want to do it more when i have a friend also going through what i am at the same time -- i've never used a forum before but this is a great motivator and help. thank you!

As for the event, it's just an excuse. I've needed a kick in the butt to get myself in shape but i could never get started. I gained the 40 pounds i want to lose since january. i know, OMG. I gained 40 pounds in a matter of like 4 months it's insane and i couldnt stop. So now that i'm seeing old friends i havent seen in years, yeah i know it's vain and shallow, but i've never been this heavy in my entire life and as you said, it's mortifying!

As for your weight loss, how are you doing it? I've been on the atkin for 6 days now and have lost 5 lbs, but you're is like double! Please share what you would eat on a typical day? thanks!! keep up the awesome work!

There are alot of exercise videos on YouTube you can watch and even download for future use. Also, there are plenty of exercise videos in the stores that doesn't cost much - I bought Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred for around $8.00. Walking doesn't cost anything and riding a bike will help get the pounds moving. If you don't have weights you can grab a couple cans of veggies out of your cupboard and use them for resistance. Exercise doesn't have to cost anything but your time...carve out the time and you'll see the results.

                            Hey Susieanna,
Yeah, you should totally start exercising, I think that's what is doing the trick for me this time. For me it's like when I'm frustrated by the fact that the diet might be slow I at least know I'm getting strong and toning, and when I'm sick of the exercise I know I'm at least in control of the eating - the two-pronged approach!
In a normal day I have:
decaf w/ up to 2 tbsp cream cut with water
two scrambled eggs with cheese or not
shrimp cooked with pesto and salad or other veggie
chicken or beef or tuna salad or something and however many more carbs I need in veggies.
Sometimes I have a snack of that very rich cheese-style yogurt -has the same stats as sour cream - and some salsa. I'm not totally sure that yogurt is legal but it only has one gram of carb per two tbspn.
not too much cheese, no artificial sweeteners (I just don't like it at all)

You have a very similar menu to my own, though am not sure about the cheesey-yogurt stuff (fromage frais??).
I also love yoga - what type do you do? Have you tried ashtanga? Hardcore toning yoga!! Love it....!
