Chayote was specifically listed in the 1992 Diet's Induction Acceptable Foods List, where it was called by it's other name, christophene.
It falls under the category of "summer squash", which is listed in the 2002 Diet's food list.

I make mine like Norman too. I do things simple when it comes to cooking.
I know on Linda's page there is a recipe of chayote apples that a lot of people love. So you may want to look that up too.
