  • 3.5 lbs in a day? Normal???

So I've been 'stalled' for a week now, only 1 lb. gone. This morning, the scale moved 3.5 lbs down...and I ate so much yesterday!

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs with 1 tsp. butter

Lunch: Large caesar with parmesan cheese and olive oil

Dinner: Chicken with 'alfredo sauce' made from cream, butter, garlic and parmesan...thickened beautifully! I just threw in random amounts of each, and it was great! More caesar.

Does it happen sometimes that you don't lose for a few days and all of a sudden you do?

    Someone had a whoosh...... Congrats!

Yes, it can happen. Probably you have been losing fat, your shrinking fat cells refilled with water, and then the water reached a certain threshold and the cells were forced to release it all at once. The scale is kinda stupid and doesn't know if you're losing fat or water, so the measuring tape is your best friend.

I would be willing to bet that you are retaining water for some reason. As long as you are not cheating, then you are not gaining fat! So try to keep that in mind when the scale is mean. lol =)

Did you eat a lot of salty/processed foods yesterday? Did you drink enough water? Did you take flax or some other fiber supplement (more than 1 tbsp)? Did you exercise more yesterday? The day before the whoosh, did you eat a lot of protein?

And... ummm... is the bathroom part okay?

                  Nothing processed yesterday!

                  Chicken alfredo for breakfast

                  Caesar salad for lunch

Roast beef sandwich on revolution rolls with mayo, mustard, lettuce and one tomato slice.

I don't take flax, and I had a small BM yesterday. The day before the whoosh I didn't eat much protein at all. 2 eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch, a bit of chicken for dinner.

I drink at least 64 ounces of water, maybe I need more?

You didn't do anything wrong, but this is why you should not worry so much what that scale says. Those numbers will go down, then up and down and up, depending on how much water you are retaining from day to day, where you are in your menstrual cycle, how much salt you ate, how "regular" you are, and even the temps can affect that water retention.

Don't worry. You saw that number once and you'll see it again. Pay more attention to the measuring tape and how your clothes fit.

You're doing great. I do hope you are getting your three cups of veggies, though. The menu you posted didn't show that.

I suggest you review her links, in particular the Rules of Induction and Allowed Foods list. If your menu is really as posted, I think you can make some improvements.

I also suggest you use fitday.com to plan your meals. Aim for 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs during the induction phase and get most of those carbs from veggies on the allowed list.

I know I need to improve, but with 12 hr. work days, and only a 20 minute break, it's hard to get my meals in. When I get home, I'm so tired I just grab a little something and sleep. On weekends, I do get all my veggies in.

Consider chopping, slicing, shredding veggies over the weekend and keeping them in refrigerator containers so they are easy to access, measure and finish preparing during the week. I am retired, but I still do that. I always keep sliced peppers and/or radishes there, along with both sliced and grated jicama and now I am keeping cooked/shredded spaghetti squash there, too. I frequently have a pumpkin treat or Mitzi's MUP (made with pumpkin and cream cheese). I buy the big cans of pumpkin so I can make my treats ahead of time and refrigerate.

I am also learning not to let my protein get too low. As I move up the rungs and add carbs, the fat goes down in percentage, not the protein. Georgiana convinced me to not deprive my body of that protein, particularly because I work out quite a bit. My cells need that protein. (She was right, too. My weight loss rate seems to have stepped up since I made that adjustment.)

You do realize that by law you're supposed to get 30 minutes for every 4 hours you work in terms of a lunch break, right?

Unless you're a business owner, don't let anybody do that to you.
