My sister has been on induction 2wks and moved on to OWL. She lost 12lbs in the 1st week, but then gained 3lbs back. She keeps bouncing those 3lbs, losing then gaining them again. Her diet is the same as it was the first week she lost weight, yet she's not losing anymore or keeping that off.

I will be at the end of my Induction tomorrow. I lost 8lbs in the first week but only 1lb in the second. Which is upsetting because I'm eating the same things and upped my exercise. Plus my goal for week two was only 2lbs and I didn't even make that. I'm drinking plenty of water, watching carbs and exercising. And I find it odd it effected us both the same way.

My diet has consisted mainly of meats, eggs and 3-4oz of allowed cheeses (in that order). And about 12-14carbs of allowed veggies. So I really don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I also wonder if I should stay on induction or go onto Owl because of this. Maybe my body needs the extra 5cbs? I'm not sure, any advice?

    Re: *frustrated*

You have lost over half of the weight you wanted to lose...way to go! When people have ALOT of weight to lose they seem to lose more rapidly than those who have, let's say...less than 30 pound to lose. You may also notice that during the first week of Induction you lose a lot of water weight, the second week is true fat loss and so on. Some people even encounter Post Induction Stall Syndrome (PISS), which is your body taking a pause to figure out what is going on with it. Typically if you keep at it that stall will pass pretty quickly. Some ways to help that stall pass are to move to OWL, many people find that adding the extra 5 carbs of allowable veggies revs their systems and starts the weight loss again.

You didn't mention exercise...how are you doing on that? You can also post a couple days of menus to see if we can help point out what might be happening.

Good luck and great job so far!

You have lost quite alot of weight in induction so I wouldn't worry about it. Don't compare what someone else has lost as compared to what you are loosing -- no one's body is the same as yours so what someone else looses won't be the same as you. Keep eating the proper foods, exercising and drinking enough pure water (64oz pure water daily minimum). Move on to OWL - you don't have that much to loose, so you'll need enough time to go through the rungs and find the foods you enjoy and those that may cause problems for you.

Congrats and keep up the great work!!

        Re: *frustrated*

Thank you I am exercising for about 30mins 3+ times a wk. I also work all day on my feet so I naturally walk 3-5 miles a day besides that.

My sister is the one I'm a more concerned about. She's 5'3 and her starting weight was 211lbs. She lost down to 199 in the first week but keeps bouncing from 199-203. Any advice for her? We've measured her inches and weight, no loss since the first week other than the bouncing. She doesn't exercise as much as I do, but it's partly because it's physically more difficult for her because of the weight. She does walk about 20-30mins a day though.

          Re: *frustrated*

I am no expert, but I think if I were her I would go back onto induction/extended induction.

Its possible that her body hardly had enough chance to adjust to induction before she went onto OWL.

I entered this diet with 85lbs minimum I wanted to loose and intend on staying on induction until my weight loss is within 20% of my final goal.

My visualisation of this is to imagine a plane comming into land... I plan on being on as steep a decent (induction and extended induction) as I can, and then when I get close to the runway (within 20% or 20lbs of my target) slowing down my decent (adding carbs or in other words OWL) so I touch down gently on the runway (target weight) without bouncing back into the air (gaining weight again)

Hope this isnt too confusing.. just my way of looking at it.

The other thing, make sure she is drinking plenty of water.. I think 64oz is the minimum a day and I believe there is a formula for adding the extra recommended for each lb of fat you want to loose... I have been researching and experimenting with water and the atkins diet and its pretty conclusive that results go hand in hand with drinking a whole load of water!

Anyway, your going to do just great as long as you follow the general consensus of members recommendations... With that, I will say don't just rely on what I say.. or anyone else says, but the majority, as this forum is a wealth of data, info and assistance... go with what multiple people have found helps and you will loose every pound of fat you want to shed.

If all else fails, follow the books recommendations for those with strong metabolic resistance, including the recommendations on supliments which can help the loss of weight with this diet.

              Re: *frustrated*

We would love to help your sister...but we would need alot of info from her to do that...especially what her menu looks like, water intake, exercise (maybe she can bump this up a little and see what happens.

Alot of the time it really is the menu....please get the info and post it for her or invite her to join and post it herself. Then maybe we can all be of more help.

              Good luck!

Is it anywhere near that 'time of the month' for her? "TOM" messes with most people's weightloss progress to some extent.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
