    Re: very frustrated

I thought I wasn't eating enough veggies but now with the weight GAIN
There are a lot of things that can cause the number on the scale go up. Hormones, salt intake, water intake, exercise, digestion... I wouldn't blame it on 1-2 net carbs from an extra cup of vegetables. Did you take body measurements when you started? How are your clothes fitting?

My height is 5'4, and I know I don't have a ton of weight to lose but I would like to be down to 110 or so since I have a small frame.
That's going to take time. You are already at a healthy weight.

I guess I need to stay in induction
No, you don't. You should move to OWL, imo, and add more vegetables. With the 20 lbs you want to lose, there is no reason to follow Induction for more than two weeks. Besides, you don't know if you lost any weight during Induction, because you only weighed on day 6.

    give up splenda
This can be done. Splenda certainly brings nothing to your diet.

    cheese
I wouldn't give up cheese yet...

I also try to eat chicken more than red meat because of the posts I've read.
You should not generalize the personal experiences of some members. I don't lose weight better when eating one instead of the other. Not everyone notices a difference when choosing chicken rather than red meat.

Any idea how many calories are you consuming per day?

Last night I had a turkey burger, so that wouldn't have caused water weight gain.
It could, if it was salty. Did you make the burgers? If not, did you check the ingredients?

      Re: very frustrated

      Hi,
I haven't taken measurements, I will do that. My clothes are fitting a bit looser, but on some days I feel the opposite. I'm reluctant to move into OWL because I haven't seen any loss. Once I see that this is working for me, I would feel more comfortable moving into OWL. I need to find out what is causing a gain, and not a loss.
I will give up splenda. Can I still keep the cream in though- the two tbs. limit?
My calorie intake is probably 1500, or less. I haven't counted calories but that would be my estimate. I am not hungry, thanks to the ketosis.
As far as salt intake, I'm careful about that. I haven't had a meal out since I started induction 15 days ago, so I know what I'm cooking. Could it possibly be that I'm drinking TOO much water? I tend to drink over 100 oz.
Thanks to everyone who has responded to this. I really appreciate all of your knowledge and support.

        >>I'm reluctant to move into OWL because I haven't seen any loss.>>

It's real conundrum. People think they have to lose on Induction! You don't. Induction is NOT about losing ... it's about getting your body ready to lose.

        >>I need to find out what is causing a gain, and not a loss. >>

Maybe the gain was because the day of the week ended in a "y". Seriously ... "gains" can be really unknown and just as silly.

        >> My calorie intake is probably 1500, or less.>>

Could be too few calories. It doesn't take much undereating (either in carbs or calories or both) to put the body in famine mode.

        >>Could it possibly be that I'm drinking TOO much water?>>

        Not likely.

Forgot to add here... Many people have the false belief that the number they see on the scale today is mostly/solely determined by what they ate yesterday. Which isn't necessarily true and leads to wrong conclusions about how different foods affect their weight.

Just to add to what has already been written by others - you might find that moving to OWL rather than staying on induction helps.

We had an admin member a few years back who lost absolutely nothing on induction but when she moved to OWL she found she started losing steadily, and she reached her goal wihout problems.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
