Well, feeding your sweet tooth won't kill it. So it's best to stay away from sweets. Some people fight off sweet cravings with stuff like pickles, deviled eggs, red peppers, pumpkin, cheese (e.g. Brie or Camembert), etc. Nutritionally, sugar free jello is not a good choice, imo.

Whether you "messed up"... probably not... although some people do have problems losing weight when consuming certain sweeteners. Dr. Atkins warned against using aspartame.

The sugar free jello is made with splenda. Either way it's done now, and I suppose you're right about not killing the sweet tooth by feeding it, no matter what it is. I guess the diet is harder than I thought, but I'm going to keep trying.

Oh, I see... the Jell-O I've seen was sweetened with aspartame... hence the confusion.

Anyway, it will likely not affect you. It's just better to change your habits, you know...

Why? Because of the sugar cravings? If you stay away from sugar/sweeteners for a while, the cravings will stop. You will probably also notice that some veggies (e.g., peppers, pumpkin) taste sweeter than they did pre-Atkins.

yeah the sugar cravings are tough but I have enough will power to resist. I keep telling my self one day I'll be able to eat however I like, assuming that the Atkins teaches me how to eat and it becomes a part of my life style.

it's best to kill the sugar beast from the beginning.....unfortunately for me I didn't and have been fighting it ever since....I've finally given all sweets up and feel SO much better since I did. Do yourself a favor and do it now. Good luck.

"However you like"... I'm not sure. Probably not how you "like" now. You will need to like different foods.

In the very beginning, when I had a sweet craving - I sipped a 'diet 7-up'. Certainly not often, but it helped and haven't had one in months. They do go away!

Hum.........I always thought that splenda was exceptable. I just went shopping and brought lots of jell-o with splenda ugh!

But, everyone is right the cravings will go away.....usually during the first week.

                          Good Luck!

Splenda is acceptable. You are allowed three servings of sweetener a day. This does not mean every one can have it. I avoid sweeteners on induction as a personal choice. I think that makes it easier for me to do induction and it may make it easier for me to lose.

So what brand of jello did you get? All the jello here has aspartame in it.

I purchased the Jell-o Brand of jello from Wal-mart.

Yippie I can have splenda. Now, I just need to remember that I can only have three severings. However, this should be easy since I am only eating jello once a day.
