Yes, I think I will make this again sometime. I just individually wrapped the leftovers up to put in the freezer. If I keep eating it it everyday, I will get bored with it!

And this is the first time I wanted to compare nutrition info. In the future I will trust her figures.

Just so I'm clear... is the OP using the term TAB to refer to tablespoons? Because I have only ever seen tablespoons shortened to Tbs. or Just T. in recipes.

Is TAB also a abbreviation for tablespoon that I'm not aware of? Sometimes all of the acronyms on BBs can make me question myself!

        HaHa,

Are you talking to me?? Speaking of acronyms, I am not sure what "OP" means...LOL

I often (probably incorrectly) use TAB instead of tbsp, or T, or TBS.
I use TAB because I have run across people who were confused about T and t, as far as tablespoon and teaspoon. So I somehow got in the habit of using TAB instead of T or TBSP.
        Sorry

            >>No, the label said "0" carbs, I added the .6 because I knew it was not Zero. I don't remember how I arrived at that .6. I think I tried converting the figures from Fitday to tabs to match with my carton's label, measuring tabs to ounces.

So, J, you think I should go with Fitday and ignore the nutrition info on my carton? What do you think?>>

Yes, I think you should go with Fitday. It's accurate!

In cooking circles, T means Tablespoon and the standard abbreviation is Tbs.

A t would mean teaspoon and the standard abbreviation is tsp.

              Hope that helps (HTH).

For many things I feel it is better to go with the label information as fitday is only taking the USDA info, and has not contacted the manufacturer to check their individual information
A good example is mayonnaise - taking fitday's numbers may well be a long way off the actual counts for an individual manufacturer. I buy several makes of mayo and all of them have different carb counts because they are not using exactly the same ingredients! There is a difference of between 2-10 carbs per 100 mls (=6.75 tablespoons) making a difference per tablespoon of between 1/3 and 1.3 carbs, which can mount up if you use several tablespoonsworth across the day!

Also for some produce carb counts can differ depending on the soil/fertilisers used. Growers might have bred a specially sweet tomato with more natural sugar! Some cherry tomatoes we buy over here in UK have different carb counts than other ones, as well as being different to fitday's numbers.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

1 TAB = 0.5 ounces (there are 16 tablespoons in a cup and 8 fluid ounces) I use the fraction of an ounce when the tablespoons are not listed.

                    >>For many things I feel it is better to go with the label information as fitday is only taking the USDA info,>>

Relying on the label for accurate information isn't "smart" in the US.

                    >>has not contacted the manufacturer to check their individual information>>

Very often the manufacturer will send back the information that is on the label.

                    >>A good example is mayonnaise - taking fitday's numbers may well be a long way off the actual counts for an individual manufacturer.>>

According to the Atkins carb counter book, 1 Tbs. of Hellmann's is 0.1 net carbs, according to the label, it's 0, and according to Fitday, it's 0.54.

Now, personally I think that Fitday is a bit high ... and I learned a lot of my carb counts using the Atkins carb counter book. However, I've never gone to the trouble of making a custom food entry for Hellmann's in Fitday.

                    >>over here in UK >>

It's fortunate that the UK and other EU countries have much stricter labeling laws than here in the US.

I think that telling people in the US to trust the label is bad advice though ... since so many people will then be counting things as 0 when indeed those items do have carbs.

The best we have is the USDA list ... which is what Fitday uses.

Of course, we could all become scientists and put a food lab in our basements I suppose! <joke>

A tablespoon can also measure dry ingredients, which won't weigh 0.5 ounces.

You can't compare volume and weight.

A cup is a measurement of volume ... not weight.
