    Hi,

Just wondering if these protein shakes would be ok for induction?? I'm not sure even though it only has 2 carbs a serving? But i'd rather ask, than screw it up.

When I go to their website:

"Promax Shakes have been discontinued, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We hope that you’ll be interested in one of the other fine products made by Promax Nurtrition Corp."

        Are you a body builder?

Why do you want this instead of real food?

The complete list of ingredients isn't listed, so it's hard to know if there's sugar in it.

I'm not a body builder no. The only reason I thought about this is because as a university student in the UK I don't get the chance to actually stop and get something proper until I get home as no where in the uk is particularly low-carb positive. Also, I hurt the trapezium muscle in my back so I thought it would help it also.

Why not bring some real food with you at the uni?

I would however I have to leave ridiculously early for classes and I just lost my job so I have to stretch my student loan as far as I can. It's not so cheap to get proper food i'm afraid.

I was only making a suggestion for myself, but it seems to have been the wrong decision to make I suppose.

I just don't think they're a substitute for real food.

There's lots of things you could make ahead of time ... like a crustless quiche ... that wouldn't be a problem eating even with early classes.

You would need to check the ingredients in that powder, to see if it's appropriate for your phase. But real food would be much better.

Also, you would need to add some fat to the shakes, since Atkins is a high fat diet, not high protein.

And I would definitely not use that shake to replace a meal!

Me too... which is why planning is essential. If you cook larger recipes, you have enough food for a few days, so you don't have to cook daily. Cooking during the weekend really helps.

A serving of that shake is 30 g. The whole thing has a bit over 900 g, so it makes 30 servings. The price is 47 Euro... so that's about 1.6 Euro per serving. I can prepare proper meals cheaper than that.

Some cuts of pork or ground beef or chicken legs are cheap. Some vegetables are cheap... and many are cheaper if you buy frozen (at least they are so in Germany).

And when you move to OWL and add things like cottage cheese, yogurt or nuts, things will become easier.

Did you check Linda's page for some recipe ideas?

Thank you very much, both of you. I really didn't want to offend or anything. I'm just new to this and am learning as I go along. Also, thank you very much for the tips and the links. They are appreciated.

                          Hi there Lessthan<3,

I have tried using this on Atkins (am in UK too, exact same brand). I would say don't have it on induction or for some time after that if you can avoid it. I think it can induce cravings for sweet tasting foods - best to cut them out completely.

To be totally honest I do use the chocolate one in almond and cocoa one minute cake (sorry I can't remember the name) instead of splenda - but that is just until it runs out I think it is quite pricey.

I go to uni also and I always make a salad the day before. If it is a really start and no time for breakfast or you need snacks take some harboiled eggs, cheese (babybel lasts well when not in the fridge) cherry tomatos. Later on owl almonds and other nuts v portable.

Yes I am what I meant was that I am learning new things that aren't in the book on this website such as recipes that I can make whilst on an excessively tight budget.
