When I was in college, I had a hot pot (an electric kettle in which I boiled water for tea or coffee) I also used to boil eggs in it---and it didn't do a bad job of boiling frozen green beans either.

We also had a microwave in the dorm lounge. You can use a microwave to scramble eggs (something I do when I'm in a hurry) or even to "bake" eggs. Jcapulet suggested the plastic containers for microwave eggs, but I just use a microwave safe bowl/coffee cup to cook in.

I think I am missing something here. You are cooking the egg beaters somehow, aren't you?

It's the same process you use for making meringue. PS---if you use a whisk and a bowl, 1. it's cheaper to buy a whisk, 2. you'll get a good upper body work-out, 3. it's easier to clean, and 4. it requires less storage space than a mixer.
