  • Day 14! I did it!

    Hi All!
Today is Day 14 on Induction. I am proud to say I have done it clean with not one cheat! :joy It was difficult at times, especially while I was traveling. I had beer, cookies, bread, and a few other off limit foods waved under my nose to get me to cave. Not sure why people want to do that to you when you tell then what you are trying to accomplish?

The weight change was odd to me too. After the first 9 days I had lost 8 lbs and I was thrilled. Then on Day 10 I was back up 2 lbs and depressed. I stayed the same weight until this morning when I checked and I was at 161. Down 9 lbs! I know I shouldn't have weighed myself during this process but if I had to choose between my peeking and a hunk of bread I think I made the right choice.

What have I learned the last 14 days? That I have willpower! I will be honest I still miss sweet things. Since I made it thru 2 weeks I may try that mock danish to see if it helps. I also realized how much crap I was putting into my body. I do feel different. More clear and less bloaty.

What do I need to work on? Getting more disciplined about exercising. I did get out of my rut by starting to walk and working out in the hotel health clubs but I need to extend my 30 minutes to 45 and learn to like it. It is still a challenge to start but I do feel good when I'm done.

I'll get thru today and send myself over to the Extended Induction Board.
I would like to keep myself on the right track for another week or two before OWL.

This board has been a great inspiration and resource. Thanks!

    Hi Misty, :wave

    Congratulations!

It's so wonderful to know you've given yourself the gift of a clean, by the book Induction and you have every reason to be both proud of yourself and to celebrate your success.

Sugar, like any addiction the longer you're free from it's grip the less it haunts you. As time marches on your cravings will be fewer and far between and many people find them gone forever.

Dr. Atkins wasn't kidding when he said a single cheat was "The kiss of failure" you know in all the previous versions of DANDR he called a single cheat "The kiss of death" - which I feel is more accurate as cheats literally kill off any progress you may have made up to that point and you end up back at square one.

Your story should be a great inspiration to others about the benefits and value of staying true to both Atkins and yourself and again, I'm so happy for you and your well earned success.

As for exercising, walking is fabulous!

A walk at home program called "Walk Away The Pounds" was recommended to me by members right on this board - I love it. A month ago I couldn't do the one mile work out and get through it, now I do the three mile every day and walk an additional 1.5 miles outside.

I would recommend WATP in a heart beat and of course You can always get some great ideas in the exercise forum.

Congratulations, Misty on your loss and your clean induction :clapping :clapping :clapping
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Well done! Will you now be heading to OWL or staying on an extended induction?

Thanks for the kind words. They are appreciated.
I'm going to stay on the extended induction for at least another week, maybe two. Hopefully with faithful exercise I can get a little more weight behind me prior to starting the OWL process.

              Congrats!

Well done Misty! You showed a great amount of strength by resisting the illicit temptations offered by associates who probably just wanted to test you to see if you were serious. Now they know, and you know too!

              You are on your way!

Now stay away from the scale. Try and weigh only once a month.
Thats part of the haling process too.
