    Re: canned veggies

As long as sugar isn't in the list of ingredients and they're on the acceptable list of Induction foods.

Some canned vegetables are higher in salt ... while I do like canned green beans, they're really the only vegetable I buy canned.

I normally buy frozen or fresh as they're less processed.

        Re: canned veggies

I was out to dinner last night with sister, niece, and Mom, had a dinner salad with my own dressing, some great salmon with lemon wedges, and french style green beans, OMG, the beans looked canned...all shriveled and funny color...gave them a taste...and all I tasted was SWEET!!!

I asked the server what other veggies I could have, and she offered corn....I said "Thanks, nevermind", as I handed her the green beans back.

They're on the list of Induction foods (as "string beans"), so yes, they're acceptable.

          And it's "added" sugar.

Canned are fine. Use fitday to check the carbs, cooked veggies can be more carbie than fresh

That's only because of the change in volume.

Cooked vegetables often cook down, so more (compared to fresh) will fit in the same measurement.

                Re: canned veggies

Try to get the no salt added canned veggies. The ingredients are veggie & water. Can't go wrong with that! You can then season them how you like and that way you know what is added.

                  Re: canned veggies

I've rinsed canned veggies in water for several years to get rid of the sodium they add plus it helps get rid of the "can" taste. I open the can and put it into a collander and run water over them for about 30 seconds -- then I add my own flavorings ...when I made green beans I always add some bacon grease to give some added flavor. Good luck
