    >>'ve only had 9.13 net carbs. I>>

That will backfire on you sooner or later.

    Plus, it's not nutritionally sound.

Well, aiming for 10-12 times your current body weight in calories is a good idea!

your cals are fine. even though Dr Atkins doesn't go into details about how it takes more energy to convert fats to fuel then it does carbs that is our Atkins advantage that lets us eat more total cals and still lose weight.

you don't have to eat more veggies just alter your selctions to have more carb dense veggies like pumpkin, peppers, tomatoes onions ( if you don't have issues with the natural sugars in them), sphaghetti squash or any of the other higher carb ones on the acceptable lists. don't forget to count the carbs in your cheese using Dr Atkins method. he counted cheese as one gram of carb per ounce consumed so even though fit day says cheddar has .2 per ounce add to your net total one for each ounce of cheese consumed.

the same thing will happen in OWL with the nuts Dr Atkins says one ounce is 5 net but we all know for most nuts one ounce is less. this will allow you to do your Atkins as Dr Atkins invented it to work using carb counting to control food intake.

atkinsgal...Please tell me why this would backfire? I didn't do it on purpose, it just kinda happened but I'm gonna try to have more today. Besides, I love veggies. I'm an ex WW's person so veggies are great for me.

2big....good tip on the cheese...I didn't do that. I went to the doctor on monday and the scale said 150....I was fully clothed with heavy boots on. Today, I weighed with my digital scale ( in the buff) at home and it said 139. I find that a little weird, so I think I'll go with my scale not only becasue it's a lower number but I'm not gonna go to the doctor every week to weigh. I'm gonna try to get the book by monday or tuesday if I can't get it at the book store where I am then I will order on-line.

Ok...I'll let you know what happens.....Cin

Clothing and shoes add weight. So that number at your doctor's office doesn't represent your body's weight, but rather your body's weight Plus clothes and heavy boots. Therefore, it makes more sense to weigh yourself either in the buff or with minimal clothing (like just wearing your underwear) if you want to get a real sense of what your body weighs.

By the way, don't forget to take measurements. Dr. Atkins wrote that the loss of inches is a better indicator of fat loss than the loss of pounds.

yep just pick one scale and one clothing option to use as your loss indicator and like Megs sais measure. Back in 2004 there was a member here named cafflygal who bemoaned her lack of weight loss as she lost most of her pounds in induction. She was part of Brook's 6WEC and measured neck waist chest bust hip and wristthighcalf bicep all times 2 for inches lost and in a yr she lost over 5 ft but only 40 scale pounds. she went form fluffy marshmellow to rock hard body eating her atkins and doing the mandatory exercise part too. her body fat kept dropping as she got measured in the gym but sh'e post it has been 3 months and I haven't lost a pound what am I doing wrong? and when she posted her gym measurements fro me I could show her she had lost body fat and added muscle to equal those lost pounds.

It will backfire because it's undereating ... it's not nutritionally sound. You're quite likely to put your body in famine mode ... and you won't lose. You then risk messing up your metabolism.

Maybe you wouldn't call that "backfiring"?

And ... "try" to have more??? You need to "do". <smile>

I remember her. Too often we become scale obsessed (been there and done that.) I went through a period where I didn't really lose weight: kept losing and regaining the same pounds. Anyhow, spring came and I needed to buy some spring/summer clothes, particularly a pair of capris. I went to the store and headed straight for the extended sizes, and picked up my usual size because I hadn't lost any weight at all. When I tried them on, they didn't fit. So I picked up a size larger. It didn't fit. I tried on a larger size and it didn't fit. Finally I picked up my pre-Atkins size, and it too didn't fit. I was almost in tears and panicking in that fitting room, when I realized those pants didn't fit because they were too big on me!

So make sure you check your measurements---losing inches counts just as much as losing those pounds.

Yeah, I need to find my tape measure. I already feel smaller in the stomach. Gonna start working out again Monday. I've been sick so the doc told me to give my body a little rest. I had back to back kidney infections. I'm feeling better now so I think I'll start again. I usually workout everyday and do lots of cardio. I just always overate so it never really did me any good!

good for you getting the exercise going again. It doesn't have to be too heavy to start with anything that moves your body more then it was moving is exercise.
