    Re: More fat?

what ingredient in your mayo are you allergic to? there are lots of different mayos as long as you are not egg allergic you could try.

upping your fats is easy and it only takes a little bit to do so. try adding one teaspoon of butter to your fitday and see how it lowers your protein percent and increases your fat percent.

you can select fatty cuts of meat to increase your fat or add a healthy oil. when you get to OWl rung 3 nuts and seeds will add those healthy fats for you.

and yep add some veggies and spread out your carbs. Ideally we should be having some fat some carb and some protein every time we eat so our body is running full speed ahead shedding body fat and getting healthy.

      Re: More fat?

my stomach gets upset when i eat mayo xD

unsalted butter is a good way to get your fat intake higher make sure its unsalted so you can add lots of it to your foods

some foods like broccoli flowers absorb butter really well when cooking them in it

also i cut all the stems off my broccoli cause i can't handle to much fiber

Do you like rhubarb? It is one of the 'other vegetables'. Stewed in a little sweetened water with maybe some whipped cream on it is a yummy dessert to me.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I suspect you will start liking them more as you go along though. Like I said, I've always loved them, but they taste even better to me now. Maybe because the body is deprived of carbs, it makes something with carbs taste that much better.
I also can't stand eggs on their own either. I'm a very picky eater and it just so happens that the "bad" foods are the ones I love.

I had sauteed mushrooms on my steak tonight and those I can eat. Still trying different stuff to see what I like and don't like to get a proper diet going.

How about in a quiche? You can add cooked veggies to those as well as meat.

            Good for you
I like to chop and sautéé red peppers or onions in butter to make a garnish for meats. With added cream they make a tasty sauce for cooked veggies too.

Maybe you would like a creamed vegetable soup. They are very easy to make. I make one with cauliflower and mushrooms. Because the cauliflower is all mashed up you may not know it is there. It will be adding more fat and vegetables at the same time

New England Cream of Mushroom Soup

              Ingredients:
              • 2 cups cauliflower, chopped
              • 1 cup chicken broth
              • 1/4 cup carrot, sliced very thin -omit on induction
              • 1/4 cup celery, sliced thin
              • 1/4 cup onion, diced
              • 1/2 cup cream
              • 1/2 cup water
              • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
              • 2 cups button mushrooms, sliced
              • 1/2 clove garlic, minced (optional)
              • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

In a 2 1/2 quart pot, combine cauliflower, broth, onion, carrot, and celery. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer until vegetables are tender — about 15 minutes.

Remove from heat, add cream and water; stir to combine. Pour 1/2 the mixture into a blender and process until smooth; pour into a bowl. (Cover lid of blender with a towel and hold down so the heat of the mixture will not blow the top of the blender off and burn you!)

Continue with the remaining mixture; set aside. Using the same saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat until hot and bubbly; add the mushrooms and garlic; sauté until lightly browned.

Add puréed vegetable mixture and parsley to mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally until soup is thoroughly heated; 2 to 3 minutes Do not boil, as the cream may curdle.

                Re: More fat?

Linda's Mockafoni and cheese was a huge hit in our house. I will admit, my teenager (not an ounce of fat on his body) has always liked his veggies but he didn't even realize it was a cauliflower dish until I told him. In fact, I thought there would be leftovers for lunch the next day - nope.

Another trick a lot of moms use is to hide your veggies. Now I know you'll know they're there since you cooked, but, you could always chop them smaller and incorporate into another dish. Just about any veggie goes well with hamburger. Do you like bell peppers? One of my grandmother's classic dishes was chicken in a skillet with a bit of oil (for us olive) and peppers just cooked. A fantastic flavor and you get your veggies.

I'd definitely check out Linda's website for some inspiration. I use a lot of her recipes and change them to suit my tastes.

                Good luck.

                  Re: More fat?

I was wondering, could V8 juice (low sodium version of course) be a decent enough partial substitute? I just know that I won't be able to eat enough veggies on their own. V8 juice + the small amount of veggies I am eating is better then none correct?

                    Re: More fat?

V-8 juice contains beets, a high starch veggie that isn't until a much higher rung. Definitely stay away. You're better off with a tomato puree, paste or canned sauce (check the label for added ingredients. You want only tomato).

                      Re: More fat?

Dr Atkins suggested we should not substitute our vegetables with vegetable juices.
                      4. Don't drink your vegetables. Juicing removes the fiber, which has the double merit of helping you feel full and maintaining a healthy digestive system. Juices also concentrate the sugars from vegetables, increasing the risk that they'll spike your blood sugar.

Because I can't stand 'em. The ones I've tried to eat so far had me nearly puking. Can't eat sauteed mushrooms to get the full servings. I'm still trying things, going to make that mockafoni and cheese

do you like chili? you could hide your veggies in there with legal peppers onions and tomoatoes.

How about tacos? you can make low carb taco seasoning mix and then eat your veggies as toppings for your meat with the lettuce onions and tomotoes even a little avacado if you can handle it. you can make a crispy shell out of nuked cheese that doesn't have a cheese texture nor taste.

Have you seen cleochatras noodles or pizza crust made from veggies? looks like real crust and noodles and you can hide more veggies in the sauces.

You can make mock baked apples out of jicama. the recipe should be posted here somewhere.
if you like pumpkin pie? pumpkin is an induction legal veggie so you could make a mock pie as your veggie.
there are over 50 legal veggies on those lists so I'm sure you can find a way to prepare some of them that you will enjoy.
