  • What's the deal with Dextrose

Everything has Dextrose. I have yet to find a pepperoni without it! Not to mention beef jerky, summer sausage, beef sticks.... Why? And do I count it as a carb if there are no other sugars listed? Also, if Dextrose is a no-go, what brand of the above foods do you buy that doesn't have it in it?

Any suggestions on a type of bouillon or broth to buy? I'm having bad luck in that department too.

How about heavy cream? Will that help my sweat tooth?

Best to simply avoid foods with dextrose.

All the items you mentioned are quite processed, and not really ideal on Atkins anyway.

    >> How about heavy cream>>

It's 0.4125 net carbs per Tbs.

There's a limit of 3 Tbs. per day.

    >>Will that help my sweat tooth?>>

The only thing that will help your sweet tooth is to not feed it.

Assuming you want to get rid of your sweet tooth that is!

Supplements L-glutamine and chromium picolinate are amazeballs for sugar cravings. They make a big difference for many.

        I feel your pain -
It is wonderful that you have discovered that dextrose is a sugar - many people end up eating a lot of sweets because they forget the many forms of sugar.
If you stick with mostly whole foods you avoid dextrose. -

I hear you on the broth - I do make my own a lot these days - it is super easy and so worth it. The ones in the store says that they are all fat free - big friggen deal - fat is an important nutrients - the sugar and 89 other chemical they added to cover up the fact that there is nothing in their broth but water on the other hand are mostly like poison - nothing in my body needs those.
If I have buy broth I go with organic. I have found that those are the cleanest ones.

Which brand, exactly? I would be quite interested in knowing ... always nice to have it on the shelf.

The organic ones I see have organic sugar in them!

I am in Canada J - so we have some different brands - the one I use is a local store brand (President Choice). It has a good taste, no sugars and it lists 0 carb for a cup (which I know is not quite true) It hardly cost any more that the Campbell brand. It is not perfect though. I prefer my own bone broths. I made some Thai soup with my bone broth yesterday and it was GREAT.

              I've seen that brand.

Can you tell me what the ingredients are?

              Thanks.

                  Thank you!

Now I'll see if I can spot it around.
