Re: Bacon
All processed foods like bacon will have varying amounts of carbs in them depending on how they have been cured and treated with various preservatives etc - including sugar in many aliases
We need to take the nutrition information from the packet rather than to rely on the information for another brand of a similar food, as the manufacturer is the only one who knows how the meat has been processed.
Are you using one of the websites that allow you to log your foods and gives you the totals of fat/protein/carbs? Normally these have the facility for you to amend any food listed to use the nutrition information on the packet to give you an accurate idea of what numbers you are getting for your particular brands of foods.
If you find this confusing to do just ask questions as I bet some of our members will have knowledge of the best way to enter custom foods for the specific software you choose to use.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Bacon
It can say that if it gives a very small serving size and the carb is less 0.5 for that amount.

If there's sugar, the carbs can't be zero.Originally posted by Fiinx View PostIngredients:Cured with water, salt, sugar, smoke flavoring, sodium phosphates, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite
Smoke flavoring might have added sugars too... like caramel color or molasses.
In the US, if the carbs are less than 0.5 g per serving, they are generally rounded down to 0.
So 4 slices (one serving) of that bacon could have 0.49999999 carbs."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Bacon
I just pulled up the label. It says each serving (2 slices) has 80 calories, 6 grams of fat, 6 grams of protein, and 0 grams of carbs. We know that each gram of fat has 9 calories, and each gram of protein has 4 calories. 6 X 9 is 54 fat calories, and 6 X 4 is 24 protein calories. This is a total of 78 calories, leaving 2 unaccounted for. Each gram of carbohydrate has 4 calories also. 2 calories is roughly 1/2 gram of carbs and conveniently in this country, that equals 0. This is how you find hidden carbs. I hope this helps you in the future.
