  • Slow... and steady...?

    Hi all,

I've been doing really well so far (drinking my water, working out, planning meals, staying below 20 net carbs), but after 1.5 weeks on induction I've only lost 4 lbs. So I was wondering if any of you Veteran Atkineers started out losing small amounts only to see it improve down the line?

I know we all lose weight at different rates, and that 4 lbs is good, but I just feel like I need a pick-me-up today. Maybe I need to start counting calories in addition to counting net carbs?

Can slow and steady win the race*?

    Annie

    Hi Annie-
You are right. Everyone's body is different. Yes, slow and steady can give you the end results you are looking for.

Maybe you could post some of what your daily food log looks like. There are so many long time Adkinseers, you undoubtedly will get some good advivce.
How much water are you drinking? Daily exercise?

Have you tried Fit Day? I found it really helpful to see ratios of fat/protein/carb percentages.
I don't think you have to worry about calories at all during induction. Read, read, read not only the 2002 DANDR but the posts in this forum. There is such a wealth of information here.

    Good luck

Staying below 20 net carbs is important, but so is following all of the rules of induction (not saying you aren't, but some people don't realize that there is more to it than <20 carbs).

Don't forget 3 cups veggies/day, don't eat anything not on the list of foods acceptable for induction, exercise is not optional (my 2nd least favorite rule, right after no sugar)...

Could you post a menu including quantities & everything you eat/drink? We could review it to see if some improvements could be made.

Also - (disclaimer/fine print ) You may be following the diet perfectly and losing at the rate that your body is willing to accept...of course slow & steady CAN win the race...it is often the best way for long-term success!

        Hi Pam! Thank you

I drink between 100 and 400 oz per day of water - on the high days I'm working out (5 -6 days a week). I had 15 oz of Diet Pepsi on Wednesday - could that be the staller? I still feel bad about drinking that! *bad atkineer!*

I am reading the book - and as per now it seems my metabolism isn't all that great, according to the chart in DANDR. I'm weaning off drugs at the moment (Effexor, it's really a pain in the neck!), so that could be it. What I know for sure is that I'm not done with Induction after these two weeks.

I guess I just lost my mojo today - but I can feel it coming back

          Thanks Julie

          What I've had today;

B: 2 Oopsie Rolls with two teaspoons of butter
L + D: Left over LC pizza from yesterday, about half of the pizza. The whole pizza was made with: 2 cups of cauliflower, 1 cup mushrooms, 1 tablespoon of oregano, 1 egg, 4 tomatoes, 400 grams of minced meat, 1 clove of garlic and 1 teaspoon of salt).

So far I've had 67 oz of water.

Have I messed it up today?

            Re: Slow... and steady...?

I am pretty new here, but on first glance 2 oopsie rolls and half of a low carb pizza doesn't look like enough food for the day. I would think you'd need more veggies.

Have you looked at the 'What's for induction Dinner tonight" forum? Lots of tasty menu/recipe ideas.

Again, good luck Annie. By the way....Julie always had good advice. (She's my hero)

Annie, that looks like very little food to me. You may need to eat more
