Re: Milled Flax Seed
What are you going to make with it Joe or Dianna. I make the muffins and they are not to bad.
1/4 cup flax meal
1/2 t baking powder
1 Pkt splenda
1 t cinnamon
1 large egg, beaten
1 t butter
Put all the dry ingredients in a coffee mug or small glass bowl thats been greased with butter. Stir. Nuke one minute, turn out and slice, butter or cream cheese. and eat. (Clean the mug or bowl right away or it will stick)
The whole muffin as 1.5 carb.

The net carbs are not 1.5.Originally posted by Desertthorn View PostThe whole muffin as 1.5 carb.
Using the USDA database:
1/4 cup flax meal ......................... 0.49 net carbs
1/2 t baking powder .................... 0.64 net carbs
1 Pkt splenda ............................... 0.9 net carbs
1 t cinnamon ................................. 0.7 net carbs
1 large egg, beaten ..................... 0.39 net carbs
1 t butter ....................................... 0 net carbs
That's a total of 3.12 net carbs for the whole muffin."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

But 1/4th cup a day will add some fluid weight mass to your scale weight as that water soluble fiber will lock up fluids as it traverses your intestines.by the book atkinseer

This should be put at the bottom of the MIM recipe!Originally posted by 2big4mysize View Post1/4th cup a day will add some fluid weight mass to your scale weight as that water soluble fiber will lock up fluids as it traverses your intestines.
I see so many newbies in Induction on other Atkins sites having a MIM every day and then wondering why their weight loss during Induction isn't that great.

I made the mistake of too much Flax in my diet the first week, but I soon learned not to

Re: Milled Flax Seed
I agree that there is not a maximum limit for additional fibre such as flax/bran or psyllium husks, but it does say start with a tablespoon. Maybe it would be sensible if that tablespoon did not do the trick to gradually add more till the problem is solved but surely not to jump straight to 4 tablespoons all in one go!Originally posted by Ch 8 'Supplementing with fibre'I recommend that you take one tablespoon of psyllium husks daily. Be sure to select a sugar-free product. You can also take one tablespoon of coarse wheat bran or flaxseed mealWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
