    >>I do think of Atkins DIET as a DIET lol>>

Then it will be the same vicious cycle for you ... over and over and over.

      Puggleperson:

I understand what you are going through. It is very difficult to give up foods you love, but you have to ask yourself, "Why do I love these foods?" For me it is an addiction. The food, for a short period of time, makes me feel good, but afterward, I feel bad again, so I eat more. It is a cycle that cannot be broken unless you want it to. Atkins, at first, is difficult. Life is difficult. Unfortunately, you have to decide what is best for you.

        Folks,

Not to be mean-spirited, but Puggleperson is nearing troll status in my book. If it can lose weight by eating what it wants to, then it is not in need of a change in its WOE. Puggleperson...go on doing what you are doing, and don't ask foolish questions that you don't want answesr to. Go troll in a chat room.

I agree with the others, if it's working for you, go for it. There are a lot of variations to low carb diets and folks lose weight on them. The only thing, and it's only a "probable", if you had followed Induction to the letter could you have doubled your weigh loss? We will never know.

Which ever plan you follow, Atkins or "My Own Low Carb" we are rooting for your success and hope you do well. I am an emotional eater so I know what your talking about. When I do follow Atkins to the letter, I find I can do much better and don't eat as much or eat as emotionally. I think it's because I feel in control. Does that make any sense?

Labeling someone as a "troll" IS mean-spirited.

And since you are a new member, I suppose you haven't yet read the Terms of Service of this board, or you wouldn't have made such a comment. While I know the ToS is boring, I would suggest you read it as soon as possible:

              Georgiana,

I have read the terms of service and belive I understand them clearly. I was , as the terms state, expressing "MY" opinion and not that of the "BOARD".

Additionally, since you are so familiar with the TOS, you are surely aware that trolling is expressly forbidden. I believe admonishing Puggleperson for doing so would be a far more appropriate use of your jackboots than publicly critcizing a person pointing out the violation.

Based on the private messages I have recieved, many people agreed with my interpretation of Puggleperson's post. The fact that these individuals felt they could only agree with me privately is likey a by-product of the ham-fisted manner in which you seem to approach legitimate discourse.

                  Georgiana,

YOU started it here, when you could have chosen to send me a private message. YOU chose to admonish me publicly, so I am going to respond to that publicly.

I'm with you on this aspect. The Atkins Diet is a diet in my eyes, nothing more, nothing less. Once I get down to my old weight, I can go back to the way things were before. I worked out 2-3 hours a day and was in perfect shape. I will never stick to this so-called "life style".

Before anyone says anything bout me saying "the way things were before", let it be known that my eating habits were never the cause of my weight gain. My weight gain was due to nearly being killed in Iraq, being bed ridden for nearly 2 years and on lots of medication (one had a side effect of weight gain, can't remember the name but it was to help me be able to eat without being sick right away).

Well, it wasn't in the eyes of Dr. Atkins.

With regard to the strictness I would say do whatever works for you. If you find it impossible to stick to the Induction rules, then surely it is best for you to follow it as best you can and lose some weight, rather than go crazy on the carbs and carry on gaining?

In different ways than yours though.

Hi Andrew, When you get down to your goal weight I'd suggest you still be cautious. Your body changes over time, so you may not be able to eat everything (or in the same amounts) that you were used to. I'm not judging your decision, just wanted to mention it to possibly make your transition easier.

Regarding the word "diet". Dr. Atkins meant this to be a plan for life. He explicitly states that in the book. The word diet has multiple meanings, one obviously is used to describe a restriction or set of restrictions to usual food or drink that someone consumes (often with the implication that this change won't be permanent). Used more broadly though diet is used to mean the sum of food consumed by a person or other organism. So a book titled New Diet Revolution doesn't imply a temporary change of ones eating habits, but just an overall change to a new way of eating.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
