Plain broiled chicken livers are (IMO) incredibly boring which is maybe why you used gravy? Try frying them with bacon or in butter or even braise them with butter and mushrooms (makes it's own wonderful "gravy" that is great on mashed califlower).
I also make a spicy chicken livers tapas where you coat the chicken livers with a mixture of 1/2 tsp. each of cumin, ground cilantro, paprika & 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg. Fry in olive, coconut or grapeseed oil about 3-5 minutes until crisp on the outside but still tender inside.
Remember not to overcook chicken livers.
