  • Gained weight after workout

    I was 199 when I weighed this morning and after a 30 min workout on the exercise bike and 2 poached eggs and a liter of water I gained 2 pounds is this normal?

    Yes.

    If you think about it, you'll realize that since you ate food and drank water after you weighed, now the weight of that food/water is added to your body.

      yep that water was in your stomach still, a liter which i think is over 1 lb....i wouldn't sweat it

        Yes, it is normal. Your body can fluctuate by several pounds if you weight through out the day. I usually weigh in first thing in the morning, right when I get up.

          Thanks I guess I will stick with weighing only in the mornings.. I dont want to get discouraged as everyone knows I have fallen off the wagon more than once! I just hope it goes down tomorrow!

            What if it doesn't?

            As you should know, weight loss isn't linear.

            We always have ups and downs.

            And ... the scale shouldn't define your success.

              glad you realized it was your water and your breakfast.

              if you have scale number phobia then put your sclaes away until day 15. Take your measurements today if you haven't already and concnetratew for the next 13 days on doing your mandatory exercise part of your atkins, eating only those foods that are legal to feed your hunger and stopping when your hunger is satisfied even if you got room in your belly food on the plate and/or carbs in the budget, drinking your water and knowing you are going on day 15 to be healtheir and smaller.

              then on day 15 measure first so you can see the inches of body fat you have burned off working your atkins. Then get out that scale and see if it too will validate the hard work you have done. it it doesn't put it alway after screaming at it about being a liar and don't use it again as you work your atkins to morph your body to the smaller healtheir person you want to be. After all nobody is going to even know what number it says when you walk in a room unless you tatoo it on your forehead, but when you walk in that room they will all see the smaller healtheir you!.

                    Thank you for the good advice! Still it will be hard not to check the scale everyday... I will try but I think what if I get to the end of the week with no results? I will be so discouraged... I will probably think nothing is working for me.. Thats one reason I check the scale when it is lower it gives me a boost.. here is my goal not to check my weight until valentines day.. I will only do my measurements instead...

                      Then you've gotten to the end of a week.

                      A much better gauge.

                      And you might want to consider moving to OWL ... that often helps the scale.

                        Just remember a liter of water is 33 oz. 16 oz is a lb. so you drank 2 lbs of water. I drank 2.5 lbs of water yesterday since I had about 2.5 liters yesterday.

                            This is confusing volume with weight.

                            16 ounces of volume does NOT equal 16 ounces by weight (think 16 ounces of feathers by volume versus 16 ounces of quarters by volume).

                            "a gallon of water weighs approximately 8.34 pounds."

                            Of course, you can put your water on a scale, zeroing out the container to see what your water weighs!
