This is just "some" site that has Atkins in the title.

You would do better to rely on information in your copy of DANDR ... or from people you trust here.

Who knows where that site is getting its information ... it's purpose seems to be selling.

Dr Atkins in DANDR says 6 months if you have a lot of weight to lose.

there is also on the next page an example of one of his patients who was metabolically resistant and did 2 yrs of induction. BUT she was his pateint which meant she was being given supplements and had blood work done serveral times a yr to check your vits and minerals and make adjustments in her supplements too.

well with the appetite suppression of ketosis and the limited carbs it is very easy to be eatting low cals too which would fry your thyroid.

Also even Dr Atkins couldn't select a day of induction eating that would supply all the required vits and minerals so one would need to supplement. Ans without medical monitoring one would not know if the supplements were correcting the problem or not.

And are you planing to be an atkinseer for life or just lose the weight and then change to a different way of eating like the repeat slimfast dieters do?

You don't do Atkins correctly by staying on Induction too long.

Of course, you will do what you will do, regardless of what anyone, including Dr. Atkins, says!

did you tell him you were eating a very small amount of those veggies you listed for him? without amounts even kimkins "lean proteins and veggies" sounds healthy. but when the very small amount of veggies and the very small amount of protein allowed is listed no doctor would approve it.

Re: Is too long on induction bad?

body builders are ususally cutting for a competion when they eat a ketogenic diet like atkins.

they do more like protein power with massive protein intakes and carbs when they are building.

but as long as you stay off drugs its safe? i know a few bodybuilders that basicly eat induction food all year round to stay cut,and havent heard of any problems with theyre health.

just questions im asking and this seems like best site to get answers

Re: Is too long on induction bad?

Atkins induction is a weight loss phase so I doubt those body builders are eating atkins induction. They are eating a low carb high fat and high protein plan and working their butts off in the gym on a daily bases rotating their lifting regions.

Maybe you might want to plug their foods into fitday and see how much protein and how much fat they are eating along with those low carbs.
the biggest issue eating induction is being able to get the micro and macro nutriants from your food choices. Even Dr Atkins couldn't get a full days worth when he anylized his sample induction menu in DANDR

Re: Is too long on induction bad?

If you are wanting to bodybuild (I assume you want to add muscle bulk too) and you are only 6lbs from goal, how do you plan on doing induction for a year? Obviously you are still dropping weight on induction so that 6lbs will be off in no time. Then what? Will you continue well below your goal weight? If you do you will not be getting the bodybuilding results you want. You can't go below a healthy weight and still get the bulk and cut a bodybuilder achieves.

I guess I'm confused because it seems like you want to build up yet you are making plans to continue losing below what is healthy for you. Those 2 things contradict each other.
