    Re: Help!!!

I lost 7lbs my first week and only 1lb on my second. Sometimes you body freaks out and needs a little time to adjust, this week I lost almost 3lbs.

Do your sausages have sugar in them? Can you post a sample of what you eat in a day?

      Re: Help!!!

What are your starting and goal weights? Not everybody loses every single day in Induction (for example, I only lost 1 pound the whole second week). The initial water weight loss is striking, but it takes much longer to lose fat. Most people lose 5-10% of their planned loss during 14-day Induction.

Can you post what you ate and drank yesterday, including amounts?

        Re: Help!!!

        Welcome Sarah,

Me thinks you haven't read the book yet, right If you explore the site, you will read many times that it is very important in order to understanding this WOL (way of life).

You will also read about the importance of Reading the Ingredients on all the foods you eat to determine whether they are legal or not. Re: your sausage, are there any sugars of any type in them? Butter is wonderful.

You don't really tell us anything about yourself, so it's hard to give feedback. But gender, age, height, amount to lose, history of dieting, TOM, etc can make a difference in how your body responds. 6 pounds in 2 weeks is not bad (think how you'd be feeling if you had gained 6 ) and you may find that your body will alternate while it try's to figure out what is happening to it?

          Re: Help!!!

It's common not to lose weight every day, week or even month. Did you take body measurements to see if you're shedding inches? Lost inches are a better indicator of fat loss than the number on the scale.

          I am cooking in butter??
          Butter is fine.

          i am having 3ozs cheese a day??
3 oz if fine. The limit is 3-4 oz per day. It doesn't mean you must eat 3 oz daily though.

          Are you eating your veggies?

            Re: Help!!!

what are you doing for that mandatory exercise part of your atkins? is the exercise a new to you program? if so that can cause a temporary fluid intake by your muscles which can effect scale weight numbers.

Have you measured so you can see the inches of body fat being burned off as you work your atkins to morph your body even when the scales don't validate that hard work?

if the ingredients in your sausages are legal then they are allowed. if not then no.

              Re: Help!!!

AS the others have said, make sure you check the list of ingredients of the sausages - most UK ones have fillers like wheat/starches/rusk etc as traditionally British bangers have less thgan 80-90% actual meat in them. Maybe a hangover from rationing in WWII when meat was scarce but more likely a way to cut costs

Some of the cheaper sausages have less than 40% meat in them

If you like sausages and don't want to buy the really expensive no-carb ones you can find from a web search maybe check the labels of german-style sausages like bratwurst or bockwurst?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

The foods are all fine for Induction. However, the amounts probably aren't.

                    Same questions as above.

                      Re: Help!!!

Also, it is best to spread your net carbs throughout the day instead of eating almost all of them in one meal. This helps you avoid blood sugar spikes.

7 oz of onion is over 15 net carbs. So if you add all the "extras" to this (eggs, cream, spices, cheese, etc.) you might go over 20 net carbs.

I see you are in the UK. There's an error in the UK edition of the book... because they wrote that 1 cup (cups is what appears in the US edition) is 8 oz of vegetables. That's not true because a cup is a measure of volume, while the ounces mentioned in your book are a measure of weight.

You need to count your net carbs to make sure you do not go over 20.

A cup is approximately 237 mL.

To track your net carbs, you can use FitDay:

FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal

FitDay lists total grams of carbohydrate and grams of dietary fiber. To find net carbs, you simply deduct fiber from the grams of carbohydrate.

Since you are in the UK and are probably using some nutritional info directly from the label, you might want to read this FAQ:
